It's highly unlikely that the Liberals will do anything before this person is issued her COPR and possibly lands. Even then, there will undoubtedly be much debate about whether on not this move makes sense, which is where the public can chime in, once `they' find out what this campaign promise really means and how it will NOT grant immediate PR at all! This allows the OP some extra time, if needed, because this sounds like it's going to be a very difficult decision to make.
I do agree that if the decision has already been made by the OP to cancel sponsorship, swift action should be taken ASAP.
