Hi Guys... I have some queries regarding MEng (Course Work) in Industrial Automation, Process Control and Instrumentation. Before that, pls check my profile below for my chances in MEng in Canada

Secondary (10th) - 96%
Higher Secondary (12th) - 96%
B.E (Electronics and Instrumentation) - 87% (University Rank Holder)
IELTS/TOEFL - Yet to be taken

Currently i am workin in an world's leading Automation company (DCS,PLC) and have 5 years experience in this field.

My queries:

1. Is it worth or a good decision to leave the current job and go for Masters in Canada as i worry about Jobs in Canada after the completion of the course.

2. I know no University offers M.Eng in Instrumentation and Control as it is. So can you guys help me in finding a M.Eng course relevant to Instrumentaiton?

3. What are some Universities that offers M.Eng relevant to Instrumentation? and i cannot afford McGill or Toronto as the fee is huge and i dont want to take any risk. So please let me know Universities that are affordable yet reputed so that i wont sturggle much to find a job after i complete the course.

4. I am interested in M.Eng in Avionics and Control and any university offers such course in Masters? What is the scope for Aerospace in Canada?

I am planning for Masters next year and it would be of great help if you guys share some of your expertise, experience and time to help me out cause there is no better person to answer than the one who actually involves in that.

Thanks much guys... :) :) :)

God Bless and Peace!

i have no knowledge about the master program in instrumentation, since it is too advanced for me. :D :D :D But now, i am studying in BCIT instrumentation. it is a two years diploma. not bad. i learned a lot. I was told the BCIT background can make me somewhat competitive in the market.

Doing a masters is a very personal choice. But if your intention is to get a PR then studies is a very easy and smooth route. If you go for a PR visa you never know of your chances, unless you have some sponsor in canada, who can sponsor you a visa.

Your chances of acceptance in universities is very high specially research masters.

you can try: University of Alberta, British columbia, University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Toronto.

I am sure all these universities have a masters in industrial automation/automation.

Regarding avionics try Carleton if you really want it.

The scope of aerospace is good in Quebec, Toronto, BC regions, since i am from the same domain (i work for Assystem). Alberta, Winnipeg, Saskatchewan thrive primarily on oil industries. Atlantic Canada has small pieces of IT and oil, mining industries.

You can always post your questions in the forum or you can always write to the universities admission committee, they will answer the the silliest of questions you ask. feel free to mail universities, post in the forum.

All the best.

PS: i have applied for winter 2016 intake in Canada Meng Industrial engineering.

Thank you kartz for your patience in replying me and its to the point.

I mailed some universities and again they redirected to their website page.

Fine...One more question.. The ranking of University really matters for pursuing Masters??? Because all Top Universities are very expensive and i dont want to take risk by investing the money that i cannot afford.

University of Alberta, British Columbia, University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Toronto: All these Universities are somewhere in Top 500 World's best Universities and what about job oppurtunities for students passing out from these Universities?

I was keen on Industrial Engineering but its more of Mechanical rather than Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation.

Also in all these Universities i could not find any MEng related to Automation... Can you send me the link if possible for any University that offers MEng in Automation?

Good luck for your Application and which are the Universities you are trying Kartz?

Yea, the process of application very simple bro. Nothing complicated, just get all the documents ready, you can do it in an hour. You'll need transcripts, LORs and degree certificate as soft copies and transcripts, LORs as hard copies too.

The universities are expensive, but you can try for scholarships. Since you have good academic scores you will get a research masters(not Meng) easily. Get a IELTS of above 7.5 then you are guaranteed a research masters. Research masters is cheaper, you will get a stipend from university throughout your final year. But yoou will have to contact professors whose research interests you like. If they like your profile, they will reply to you with an unofficial confirmation. You can then apply to universities and mention the prof whom you contacted in your application you'll get admission within a months.

The job opportunities are very good if you are from the top universities, its not a cake walk but your chances of getting accepted are higher than people other universities.

By automation i meant Robotics and mechatronics, hence i am listing these courses:

U of toronto: http://irm.utoronto.ca/for-students/

UBC: http://mech.ubc.ca/meng-mechatronics-design/

Manitoba: You can join for an MSc program and become a researcher at any of these groups this will give you the opportunity to specialise in robotics, you will have a masters in electrical engg specialised in what you choose

http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/engineering/departments/ece/research/index.html

McMaster: http://graduate.mcmaster.ca/graduate-students/future-students/programs/174-future-students/programs-offered/721-computing-software.html

Regina: check this loist of faculty if any of their research interests matches your interests contact them, and if they accept you'll get admitted.

That's a lot of Information Kartz... Thanks u bro :) I really appreciate :)

I am willing to to Masters in Course work as i wanted to use my experience to join the industry and thesis work, i doubt if i could do it.

And the course in UoT is really great: Robotics and Avionics in one course and i was so happy to finally see Avionics and Automation in a single course but the fee of UoT is so so so huge and i cannot afford even in my best of best dreams...

Also any idea of Avionics and Control in Masters. If the Job opportunities for Aerospace are bright in Canada, i would blindly go for Avionics and Control as it was my dream to be in Aerospace field. Because ppl often say that Aviation is a very competitive field and get a job is like daydream..

If not i have to choose a course related to my previous work experience Process Control and Instrumentation and i dont find any University offering a course in Control System and Instrumentation.

Thanks again Kartz :)

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I know that University of Regina offers masters in process systems engineering. Check their site

I do agree that its expensive, generally course based programs are expensive. If you can learn French, i would say you will get the best opportunities in aerospace domain. Cause Montreal city is home to Bombardier, and also houses the French power houses such as Airbus, Capgemini, Assystem (i work for Assystem India) and several ancillary industries.

If your hell bent on aerospace Montreal should be your top priority.

Yes kartz i checked UofRegina, they offer Industrial Systems and Electronic Systems Engineering... Seems to be relevant...

How about scholarships for International students in MEng program. On what basis they grant scholarships and how much will it be or fee waive?

If they provide me with scholarship, i can think of some good Universities where the fee is high like UoT...

Can you list the Top Universities for MEng courses in Electrical and Aerospace Kartz...

Ranking is different in different websites...

Hi guys ...I'm a B.Tech. EEE graduate
My profile - 7.6 cgpa in my class 10
92.5% in my class 12
6.47 cgpa in my B.Tech. EEE (2018 passout)
well I accept that my score in my UG is not that great.., but anyways I'm looking for a good university in Canada for pursuing my masters in the field of automation (or) robotics (or) mechatronics. I'm planning for august 2019/ september 2019 intake.

As for now I'm preparing for my IELTS and I'm waiting for a call letter from an IT company (placed via campus interview)

NOTE:- the IT company where I got placed is one among the top 5 IT companies in India. (I don't want to reveal the company's name)

Here are my few queries,
1) Should I even prepare for GRE for getting admission in a canadian university ??
2) Probably I will get my call letter by October 2018...Should I join that IT company?? (or) should I search for Core companies?? (Why I'm asking this because I feel relevant field experience will be an added advantage)
3) How much should I score in my IELTS and GRE (if it's necessary), to have some hope ??
4) And finally, Please suggest me some good/decent universities from Canada, according to my interests and my profile.
5) Apart from Canada, if there are any other universities from any other countries, which matches with my profile and my interests, suggest me that also.
