another OMG from me too!!!!

there is not a virginity test in the medical exam!
there wasn't a breast check in mine either
there was nothing inappropriate in my medical exam
when she had to check by the side of my groin, the doctor asked if i would like a chaperone...
certainly none of this stripping off malarkey

i had the chest x ray in a different hospital and the x ray technician as is normal
left me to change into a gown (i only had to remove my tops clothes ina cubicle so was never unclothed in front of anyone!

please don't let anyone abuse this

The medical exam might differ a bit between doctors but most people do get to keep their underwear on. Canada immigration really does not care if some woman is a virgin or not so that is certainly not a requirement to pass the medicals.
I'm a guy. I can"t believe this whole viriginity exam issue. In Canada , i imagine, this issue is practically non existent. Nobody cares if you are a virgin or not. it seems(reading these posts) that tests are different in every country. Somebody, here below, said that he/she was examined in the rectum. what???
I did medical tests inland (here in canada) and i kept my clothes at all times. i was just checked for blood pressure and the doctor told me to open my shirt in order to check my heartbeat, that's it. Then they do x rays, blood & urine test and a small interview where they ask you very basic questions.

I must ask, however, what the concern is. If you're sponsoring your spouse, western culture (law, even, in some places) doesn't consider the marriage legitimate unless it has been consummated. Therefore, if your "wife" is still a virgin, you're not technically married...
Are you joking?? Western culture?? what are you talking about??

Not joking.

In some NA jurisdictions an unconsummated marriage can simply be annulled, an easier and less costly (read: no alimony) alternative to divorce.

This question sounds sketchy, because to me, the OP is asking if anyone at CIC will know his wife is still a virgin... thereby exposing immigration fraud.

Hmm... I just thought it was sincere question, trying to prepare for the exam.

I know we had my step-daughter (she's 21) getting her exam and I specifically asked how invasive the exam was. They did end up doing a full exam in the long run, and I was glad to have asked so I could prepare her for it.

I think it's up to the doc... the one we saw was really nice, very professional and helpful and she was very thorough, which made me walk away feeling much better about it all. She told us that if there were any concerns she would let us know.

It's just me, but if I was going for the exam, I'd want to know if they were going to do a full pelvic exam or not. Maybe wouldn't ask if it was a virginity test, but I'd want to know ahead of time if they were going to be checking out all the goods so to speak lol.

Nobody will ever check if someone is virgin or not . this is a ridicolous issue in a so called "western country" in the 21 st century. But i know there are stupid laws in North America (especially in some states of the Usa) ...actually go and check this interesting website

Basically, KZV, if the "female" getting the physical is involved in a non-genuine marriage, CIC will get to the truth without checking if anyone's hymen is intact or not, thankfully. Sex does not necessarily define a marriage as sincere just as lack of sex does not define one as fake. There are other criteria. But maybe I've opened up a can of worms here....

Regardless, in many religions, an unconsummated marriage can be annulled without disgrace to either party. If two people are married on paper, but haven't consummated their marriage, and if *I* were an IO (and had knowledge of the fact that the marriage had not been consummated), I'd be EXTRA suspicious of the legitimacy of the marriage.

Talk about assuming. What if the poster is the daughter of an applicant whose family is unaware of her activites. The poster was just asking a question.

I think it's up to the doc...
They did a pelvic exam as part of the immigration medical?!!!? How ridiculous.
However, it does seem from the experiences posted here that it depends on the doctor.
For the original poster: in the unlikely event that they do do a pelvic exam, the doctor will not include in his/her report whether the woman is a virgin, CIC does not care, and the doctor should not tell anyone else either.

I have seen appeal cases where the government lawyer argued that the marriage was fake on the basis that the wife was still a virgin, but they never discovered this from the medical exam. It was always because the wife or husband admitted that the marriage had not been consummated.

You are right, i didn't pay attention to the smiley faces, anyway already the title of the thread makes you think it could be a joke but because the person who posted this said "it was not a joke" i just sort of follwed the conversation thinking that all the other posts were no joke....now that i look at the post of the person who had "the rectum" checked i can see that it was a joke.... ;D

It seems there is considerable discretion on the doctor's part concerning what the medical exam will comprise.

To preclude improper examinations, why doesn't CIC print a description of the medical exam, and make it consistent in all countries. After all, the doctor works for Canada in these instances.

what CIC needs is this: blood test, urine test, chest X-ray; some doctors could make a full check up: weight, height, blood pressure, check ur ears/throat...normal things nothing out of the ordinary....but i have never heard of pelvic exam, gynecological exam, or virginity test....actually it's not their damn business and u could specifically ask the doctor if it's required or even complain to CIC...if u don't like that DMP u could go to another one

good luck!

well in the UK it did state that men over 50 do have a rectal examination...

the doctor that did our medicals expressed confusion as to why she had to measure our head circumference...
she knows of no medical reason for this to be necessary
i suggested it might be so we can be given a *welcome to canada hat* when we arrive :D
