Medical Question

Hey, first off thanks for helping!

So I am an American who has been married with my wife for a year and been together for five years. My packet is finally done, I even have the FBI background check because I didn't know we could apply without that complete. (took us 6 months to get mine because of FBI clerical errors) I was surprised it took so long because In the military I have had countless background checks done that took less time then a simple criminal background check.

Anyways, i just had a slight scare looking at the LA times for processing but after doing some searching on the forums I found others talking about it and that Americans are processed in Ottawa.

However I do have one other thing that's worrying me that I wanted to get answered before mailing my application. I did my medical here in Canada back in October because I thought I would be able to submit earlier. Now its set to expire in October, so my question is should I just go and pay to get it done again or if the application process is going beyond October can I go re-do my medical in like September and send it in to replace the old medical?

I'm not an expert and newer to these forums myself, but my understanding is that IF you send the application in now with the current Medical and it become expired, they will just notify you that they require another one. This is what I've understood. This however, can be time consuming if you have to wait for an available appointment to get medicals done. I know some locations its hard to get an appointment where for us, my husband couldn't even make an appointment. It was first come, first serve and you had to be there by 11am to even be seen that day.

I have also heard some scenarios where people needed additional medical information form CIC so they required another medical to be complete anyways once they were working on processing. I guess in the end I don't know the final answer, but I would imagine that if they require a new medical they will just email you.

No. See if CIC requests a new exam.

They have been known to extend the validity beyond the standard one-year, but it is at the discretion of the Visa Officers that is assigned to your file.
