About 3 months ago, my partner got a 6-month extension to his visitor record (he is from the U.S.) The extension letter said he was required to do medicals within 90 days (or 3 months?). The medicals were completed long before we applied for that extension.

Do you think there is something we need to do to make them aware that the medicals are done? Do we need to contact someone, and if so, who and how? Due to various circumstances, our PR application is still not quite ready to send in.

It probably wouldn't hurt to send them a letter with a copy of the medical so they know you've complied with their requirements. I'm wondering why they need a medical for a US citizen requesting a vistor extension? Hopefully PMM or someone can chime in with some sort of explanation.

I'm thinking it's because they want assurances that we really are filing the PR application and not just "stringing them along." The reason for the 3-month limit on the original VR seemed to be that we hadn't yet filed (nor had we even paid the fees) at that point.

I waited till the 6 months were up and I sent them a proof of the medical when I asked for a further extension. I guess that was satisfactory, because we are now approved for another year. I figured they could always check with Ottawa themselves if they wondered about the medical before then.
