Do I have to have an updated medical insurance when I apply for my PR as a spouse of sponsor?? I have a visitor visa and haven't find an insurance company that include myself with my Canadian husband and kids due my temporary status. Any recommendation plz??? Thank you!

You don't have to be insured to be sponsored, but it's a risk if the province that you are in doesn't cover you as a dependent. You may need to take out insurance on your own.

There are private medical insurance companies that does provide medical coverage even to those staying in Canada temporary.

I was able to get a quote for myself and 2 kids for 3 months, awaiting 3 month residency requirement to qualify. I was also able to get a quote for my wife while she is here on visitor status while waiting for PR to complete.

Due to the high cost of the monthly medical insurance especially for my wife, we decided to gamble and not take out any medical insurance.

My wife finally after 11 months, she was able to get on provincial coverage. We saved ourselves a ton of money but it was a huge gamble.
