Yes you shouldn't have a problem if regulated with oral medication, weight loss and activity. Unless you are arriving with a job you have to factor in that Canada doesn't have a national pharmacare program. Yo can bring 90 days of Rx medication with you. Things like testing strips are very expensive so I would buy some before you leave if you are being asked to test your blood sugar on a regular basis.
Passed the Medicals :)

Your ability to get PR all depends on your need for treatment and the cost. Your health could also change by the time you apply for PR so there is always a risk. Medical care for student varies by province. Some get provoncial care and some are required to purchase medical insurancd through their college or university. Depending on your current medical costs, getting a student permit may be an issue.
Hi, thanks for the above information. Could you please suggest to me whom I can contact to get better clarity on an express entry or student visa because I have tried almost everywhere but didn't get much information. Apart from this I only require routine transfusions and medicines. I never had surgery in my life and all my reports are normal so I don't need any special kind of treatment in the upcoming future as well.
Thanks. :)

You would need to hire an immigration lawyer to assist you.

Routine transfusions are actually quite costly and depending on how much your medicines costs that could put you over the excessive demand limit.

Cost of a transfusion in Canada is about $500 dollars. So it depends on you protocol. That means with the cut off that's 40 per year. Not including Drs visits and test.

Better refer a professional for this ( a lawyer or a consultant)
Good luck !

Hi , Recently I got a second round draw of Paresnt sponsorship in July 2018. My mother was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer (a cancer of the food pipe). Dr cut the defective piece and bypass the food pipe. Later we have done all radiations and chemotherapy. We did one last test and now she cleared the test. But still has low weight and bald head. Though the dr are saying now she completely fine. Probably We are receiving a medical request in next month. Do I have to get all the reports of surgery and Treatments from our dr for panel Physician ? What are the chances of medical exam ? Thanks

Yes anticipate that you will have to submit more treatment information to CIC. Would prepare in advance ad submit it. You'l need to include things like diagnosis, treatment she had, possibility of recurrence, ongoing medical needs. Things like routine PET scans, blood tests, oncology follow-ups all costs money and your mother has only recently finished treatment so her follow-ups are likely 3-6 months at the moment. Any longterm health issues related to cancer will also need to be detailed like swallowing difficulties. Nobody can guess what will happen but would get extra documentation ready.

Medical Condition: Specific query

This is regarding declaration of any medical condition in form IMM5419e. I was treated for colon cancer in Feb 2011 and I am undergoing continuous check up with all the required tests done at yearly basis and I am absolutely fit till date. Further, i have all the reports available with me.

While review of Medical form IMM5419e, I note following two points:
3. Prolonged Illness History
7. Cancer in last five years

I am confused now, shall i declare my surgery in point number 3 as I have scars and incision on my body OR shall I go ahead without declaring anything because I don't have cancer in last 5 years?
If I declare, my application may be rejected under "Excessive demand on health" clause. Request your feedback on my case.

Hello All,

I had a baby in the US in April 2019 after collecting my COPR. CIC asked me to submit my son's documents so that he can be included as a dependent. My son had a surgery for myelominingocele after birth and has a VP shunt. He has done his medicals. All medical reports submitted to the panel physican shows that he is fine, doing well and not on any medication. All he will require is routine MRI to ensure the VP shunt is working well. No need for any medication etc.

I am just worried. What do you all think?

Assume you were honest about his medical condition if you were asked for an MRI. Does he actually have spina bifida? Is there any paralysis? Incontinence? Very hard to comment. Also very hard to analyze his/her future medical needs so young.

I told the panel physician all that. No paralysis. All limbs are working. He has a good anal tone etc. the physician checked all that.

Assume there is a high chance you will be asked to forward some of his previous medical records or summary of treatment, prognosis and diagnosis from his treating physician.
