medical expiration period

Another quick question:

We submitted the medical with the application, and it's been over a year now. Will they ask us to do another medical in this case? Our consultant told us we had to submit it at the time of application (but I see here a lot of people only submit when asked).

Medicals are valid for 1 year. they will ask you to redo the medicals shortly b4 they issue your visa as you cannot land without a valid set of medicals.

Let's say you did the medical on March 1, 2012. Would the VO issue the visa (and return the passport), let's say, on Feb 25, 2013? In other words, do they issue the visa in advance of the expiration of the medical? It would be very annoying if they only gave a few days notice before you must land...

here's our situation:

February 2nd we received letter asking for additional information. It asked for intent to return to Canada, passport biopage, and a couple other things. It didn't ask for a medical redo.

My wife's medical was done March 2011. We've had a hiccup in our app process as our intent to return to Canada needed additional proof (a second letter was sent to us dated March 5th). Provided we are successful this time (and it is of course now April), will they ask again for additional information (i.e. redo her medical, submit passport biopage again...)
