My stepson just went for his medical exam and I just wanted to know what happens with the paperwork? Does the doctor send it off for us? She gave my in-laws a piece of paper saying it was for her records but do we need that to send in with the papers or does the doctor office send it off for us?

It depends on whether the physician has transitioned to the new eMedical system already. Either way, the physician will send in all the results. However, in the paper-based system the receipt helps them connect the dots. So, I would photocopy the document and send in a copy of the receipt as proof that the medical has been done to be safe.

Ok thanks OhCanadiana!

I'm doing the inland application and my husband is here does it matter if he gets his medical exam done here in Canada or outside of Canada?

I'm in the same situation - US husband here, step son in the states.

My husband got his done here and his sons was done down there. No problems at all. In both cases, the 'results' were sent straight to the government, we only had the receipts.

Cheers!

You can use any physician from the list of Panel Physicians at http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx

The Dr will send the results directly to CIC. You need to send the paper the Dr gives you with your application. It is referred to as the "receipt" and the form number on it is IMM1017.
