hi everyone

i'll try to be brief,
my wife is canadian, they started processing my app at the embassy in nov 17 2009, a lady from the canadian embassy in damascus had called me 10 days before my medical expired, she said she wants me to fill a form, (supplementary information form), write "urgent" on the envelope and deliver it by hand at the embassy, that's what i did next day, but she didn't call me back, that was 50 days ago, and nothing so far. they didn't even ask me to redo my medicals or anything, i sent them an email a week ago, asking what to do now, but no reply.

what do you think?

thanks

I am not a complete expert BUT here is my advice and expirience .....Medicals are the last thing looked at b4 visa is issued....There are several things done b4 meds are looked at ...

Paper decision.....making sure all documentation is there ..If not request what is missing..

Selection...is when they look at the genuiness of your relationship....see if any other info is needed and or request interview

Background and security clearances....Could take months

Medical results.... If med is expired then they will ask to redo

Finall decision ..

So there you have it CIC will not usually request a med redo unless you have passed all there checks and they are ready to issue visa ....

Try to email them again ...if you have no luck them you will have to wait ...as long as you are withing the processing time lines posted on the CIC then there is nothing you can do BUT wait ...

There has been alot of speculation about redoing your meds without them requesting ...My embassy would not allow this so we did not bother ...Try being rpactive a doing them your self...But dont be surprised if they say NO you had to wait for us to ask do them again ...It cannot hurt...if you dont mind thew risk

Best of luck

thx alot,
but i guess we're past that stage already. when that lady called me she said she needs that form next day, and she asked me if i could leave in ten days if i get the visa,
and it all revolved around one thing, the medical exam, that lady kept reminding me that my exam expires in 10 days and we have no time.
there's one more thing though, in the form i filled, i had to mention everywhere i've been to in the last ten years, i spent most of my life in lebanon, a long time in syria, and about 14 months in congo, and sometime in rawanda, and i have security clearances from each of these countries. could it be that being in many countries makes the processing time longer ?

Answer is YES background checks can be long and because you have been in that many countries then probally more likely than none it will take a little longer for them to clear you in all those places ..I am not sure on your embassy BUT medicals are only valid for 1 year and if your med is expired you will have to redo ...Some places have been known to extend a medical ..BUT i am sure those are way far diffrent circumstances than yours....

Have patience if your medical is expired then they will contact you to redo ...when they are ready for the final step ...and that is VISA!!!

Good luck
