The decision rests with particular panel physician. If you'd like to go this way, you have to call the certified panel physician in your region, describe your situation and ask to pass medical upfront. If panel physician work with eMedical system it shouldn't be a problem.
No! The decision does not rest on the physician. Where do you get all this information???

Medical is mandatory test but in cases when medical had been provided earlier they might not request new one. It happened with me when I extended my stay the second time. They were fine with my expired medical from the last year and no hussle.
Sure, if it's been provided before. They may or may not extend it. If they do, they can extend it for a year.

Lol it literally says right under it

Are you applying to sponsor your spouse, partner or child?
A new application process for the spousal sponsorship program came into effect on December 15, 2016. Spouses, partners or dependent children do not need upfront medical exams. Wait for our instructions before going for your medical exam.
Lol. Same.

Find more information on what to do for your medical exam when you’re applying with the old spousal application package.
You just like to be right, huh? Why are so stubborn?

There is a difference between "do not need" and "must not". There is no restrictions towards taking medical upfront.

And moral story, as @kcward7 calls it, is that if a person has obstacles that prevent from waiting and taking medical after IRCC request then the person have to 1) contact IRCC 2) call physician and ask for upfront.
If...IF those attempts fail then you have no choice but sit and wait.

Hello,

I am applying for residency under the family class, commonlaw, in land application.
I will send me application off at the end of June as me and my partner will have been living together for a year.
I know on the CIC website it says to wait to get a medical but we are going travelling around Canada in July so it could be difficult to get the medical. If I got the medical on the day I send the application and send it with the application would CIC still ask for a new one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou
hi
i just wanna ask in your application what dat did you put start of common law? is it the date after youve bbeen living together for 1 year?

Hi guys, glad to come across this. I started a new thread, but will carry on from here as many know the question.

It seems that this process has changed frequently over the past months since Dec 15, 2016.

I've done more in depth digging as we have booked an Up-front medical exam for my fiancé (I'm Canadian), she is visiting Toronto this Friday (Feb 14) and we've payed the fees already for her exam.

Speaking to our panel physican, they were saying that the medical exam paperwork to be filled for a spousal sponsorship is exactly the same as paperwork for students, workers, and visitors. With that being said, the reason why they are hesitant is because there are only three categories to choose from for the Up-front Medical exam (Student, Worker, or Visitor).
There is no "official" option for "Spouse"

Regarding the change in process since Dec 15, 2016, what the website is saying is that the reason why they don't want you to do an up-front medical exam is because they are working to make the family class sponsorship faster and that their goal is to have these sponsorships approved within 12 months, they say their target since was 80% success rate. Does this mean that they would accept anyone in without a medical? I wouldn't think so... But my thoughts are that my doctor has already agreed that he can do the exam. The document (Form IMM 1017) is done by them through e-medical, and that they would just select "visitor" for my fiancé as she is currently visiting Canada at the moment for her Medical.

In closing, since the medical does not expire for 1 year and I have 4 months and a few days until our wedding (Yay!) and send her application. We're just banking on the fact that her sponsorship is approved before February 15, 2020.

What are everyone's thoughts? Should ws push through with the appointment on Friday? Or cancel it?
