Greetings!

Me and my Spouse are planning to move to Windsor, ON from US in early 2025. I lived in Windsor on PR with valid H1B until Aug-2024. I got married and moved to US with Spouse (H1 & H4). Spouse applied for TRV as soon as wedding fixed and got approval after wedding in October 2024. Now we would like to move to Canada in a rental car together via Detroit-Windsor land border.

Can me on PR and Spouse on TRV enter together in the same rental car? any problem for Spouse (TRV) at the border?

I appreciate the responses. TIA!

Yes PR and TRV holder can enter together in the same car. You would have to check with car rental company if they allow it. Why don't you drive your own? Not comfortable to drive?

I am planning to drive on my own with Spouse in the same rental car. I am worried that if they ask why would TRV holder with PR enter together and are you related and deny her entry on TRV.

Spouse uploaded marriage certificate after marriage in TRV application as it's under process at the time and then we got approval a month later. All I am thinking is if they pull up Spouse profile (not sure if they access to that level) and figure out if we are married so they deny on TRV and ask to apply outland PR to enter.

Does Spouse has to say entering to visit on TRV and no need to tell about marriage?

I mean you don't own a car? Why rent a car to cross the border if you own one?

They might ask the relationship and it's up to you to answer truthfully.

We are carrying some luggage with us so driving rental vehicle bigger size to fit essential items.

Do they reject Spouse TRV if answered we are married? any experiences or knowledge base from other folks?

Do we say Spouse will enter on TRV and apply inland PR if they say TRV category for spouse is not valid when I'm entering on PR?

Usually you hand-in them all passenger's id such as PR cards and passports, and they would decide what to do next. They might just ask a few questions, send you to secondary or return your id to you and let you proceed without any questions.
