I have sent the photocopy of PCC… I didn’t realize, I was supposed to send original copy of police clearance. application received May 31, 2021 . I am worried will my application returned back?
While I would like to be optimistic about it, all you can do is wait, if you’ll receive an AOR or they’ll send it back to you, same as how our folks here have received theirs back, since they missed a form or receipt. While you sent a photocopy instead, I am not sure if that would be enough though, all depends on CPC Sydney to decide.

I don't think it says anywhere on the checklist that PCC should be original. The only supporting document that the checklist says should be original is the employment confirmation letter (You can check this by searching for "Original" on your PDF viewer with the Checklist open). The guide also says to send copies unless specifically instructed otherwise. I have also asked an immigration consultant and they advised that a coloured photocopy is sufficient.

Where did you get your information?

Plus in some cases IRCC requests a new PCC at later stages, and it asks for it to be uploaded as a PDF on their website. So I would imagine if they needed originals they would ask for originals the second time too, not just a PDF.

I hope I'm not mistaken. But in a similar way, neither the checklist nor the guide ask for an original birth certificate. So I'm assuming sending a photocopy of that is fine too for example. Sometimes in the country specific requirements it asks for originals. Please double check with your situation. Here's the info from the guide:

Make sure all photocopies are clear and easy to read. Other than copies of original documents used for translations, photocopies do not need to be certified. Don’t send originals unless we ask for them, because they will not be returned.

@armoured would you be able to confirm either way?

I just checked the application guide as well,it doe not say the Police Certificate have to be an original copy. But as you have said here, he/she needs to check the country specific requirements, to check and see if for that specific country, they require an original copy for any specific document. You are correct to say that won’t require original copies unless they deemed necessary, and it is specified usually.

No one can say if it will be rejected or not. You might get lucky. But you should have provided an explanation if you were not able to provide an original. What I can tell you is that the current version of the checklist "IMM 5533 (06-2019) E" specifically asks for an original employment letter.

I checked county specification for India and there is nowhere mentioned to provide original PCC but I don’t know why everyone on Facebook, youtube & on some forums mentioned to provide original PCC otherwise app would get returned….

I don't know what IRCC will do with this, and yes, generally, they specify if they need an original.

BUT: I do not understand why anyone would submit a photocopy of the police certificate (and employment letter for that matter).

These are NOT documents that anyone has or obtains for any other purpose than for applying to IRCC. There's no value to keeping them until later. This is NOT like marriage or birth certificates where one has good reason to retain the 'original' or is likely to have any use for afterwards (if you want, keep a photocopy or scan for yourself).

Also keep in mind: the only people likely to tamper with or fake a PCC are precisely those who have a criminal record. So ... you might logically expect that they would prefer an original.

So for both of these: follow the instructions. But for both I'd also say - submit the original, you applied for and got it specifically for applying to IRCC and it will have zero or little value in any other context.

*Two small points: sometimes when IRCC asks for an original eg of a divorce decree or marriage certificate (for certain countries) the meaning of "original" includes a duplicate issued from or by the civil registry (or equivalent). Usually that means on special paper.

For police certificates, these are increasingly done online in lots of countries and eg you may get an electronic version where IRCC specifies 'original'. There's nothing to be done in such cases except print and send, with an explanation if you feel necessary. IRCC will accept if that's how it's done. Sometimes it takes a while for IRCC to catch up to developments in all countries. But: it would still be a bad idea to send a photocopy of that printed electronic version rather than the original print - no sense confusing them.

Finally - an update! After initially sending my application in Feb. 2020 and having it returned due to an error on my part and then re-submitting in May this year - I received both biometrics and medical request today.

Something that may be of interest - everything I've read here suggests that AOR1 goes to the sponsor. My wife (my sponsor) has not received anything - the first acknowledgment of receipt we have is the BR and MR sent to me - the applicant.

I received the BIO request earlier than the AOR as well, so maybe wait a couple of days for the AOR to be sent to your email.

But, in the BIO request you already have a UCI and Application number. Use the Application number as reference, to login thru ECAS or linking your application to your GCKEY account.
