Hi, I am Canadian PR living in Quebec and want to sponsor my husband who is in India. I am in the starting stage of preparing the application for both me and my husband and have some basic questions. Please guide me.
1. Once after filling all the forms, Can I send it to Missassauga office the whole spouse sponsorship package? Or should my husband send it to CPC- Sydney?
==> Download the latest checklist, since you will fall under outland sponsorship - it lists the address where you need to send it. Currently, it has CPC-Sydney for all outland applications
2. Do we need to both sign the applications by printing out the forms as it is required? or will electronic pdf signature works?
==> Print the forms, sign the forms. There is one form IMM5669 where you type the name, validate, print and sign alongside it with pen again.
3. Since I am in Quebec, I read that I need to apply for CSQ. But after receiving CSQ details by IRCC, will they provide Canadian PR to my husband along with this application? NoteI am currently living in Quebec for work.Planning to move next year to Toronto)
Not sure about this.
Appreciate your response. This will help me to proceed further.
There is no time duration for each of the steps, only the process, which has a target of completion of 12 months.Hi All,
I submitted my wife's outbound sponsorship application on April 23rd, 2019 and i got the delivery confirmation on April 25th, 2019. Its been a month and i am still waiting for any updates on the file.
Just wanted to ask what are the steps ahead and the time duration for each of them.
Would be really great if someone can answer to my question.
Thanks a lot.

No.. This should not be a problem. In-case CIC confirms this from PA, PA has to confirm if PA signed the forms.Hi guys
My wife lives in Pakistan I got her forms through my parents coming after the wedding whereas I came back even earlier so he brought partially signed forms by principal applicant and then I (sponsor) signed it here and put the same date as my wife signed in Pakistan.,
Should it be a point of contradiction as to why the dates are same if the form were mailed and it might result in return/refuse the application.
You meant CIC would confirm to principal applicant that sponsor signed it on same date.No.. This should not be a problem. In-case CIC confirms this from PA, PA has to confirm if PA signed the forms.

No. They dont care much about this. You meant CIC would confirm to principal applicant that sponsor signed it on same date.
Outland Spouse SponsorshipHello Guyz... We are so excited to be on this journey as we have also sent out our application today to CPC - Sydney, Nova Scotia. The application has been sent from India (through DHL). In our case, the Sponsor is my husband (Canadian PR) and I am the PA. Will keep our time line posted so that it helps other applicants as well. Good l
I thought this looked familiar, then I thought, heh, at least it's been credited to the original post... I click it and it's been copy and pasted againThe beginning of the process - AOR1 [~6-8 weeks]
Creating a GCKEY account
- Complete your application and send it in.
- CPC-Sydney receives the application. This is the start date for your application, you can input it on the google tracker if you like:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Gm315tmNKWoywb7PwZBiE67fUmznYQrNhYVWXPXXJBw/edit#gid=1198672673
- CPC-Sydney then sends AOR1 as a PDF letter to the sponsor's email, this contains the application number and UCI: https://imgur.com/a/DydaI
- You can now check your applications progress in ECAS using your application number. Using the Sponsor's details will show you both sides of the application's status:
Sponsorship Approval
- You can then create a GCKEY account, this stage is optional and letters for biometrics and medical will come to your email if you don't create an account. It is, however, strongly advised to create a GCKEY account - and the rest of this process will read as if you did create an account.
- You can then create a GCKEY account: https://onlineservices-servicesenligne-cic.fjgc-gccf.gc.ca/mycic/gccf?lang=eng&idp=gckey&svc=/mycic/start
- Link your application to the account via the following guide: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/january-2019-outland-application.603766/page-102#post-7667048
CIC sends requests
- Sponsorship approval will be sent as a PDF letter to the Sponsor's Email address. https://imgur.com/a/P0yOD
- ECAS will also show Decision Made under the Sponsor section: https://imgur.com/Cf4fZGU
PA Processing
- Biometrics and Medical request letters are then sent to your GCKEY account, where you can log in and download them. They can come in any order and in some instances can come after your application has been transferred: https://imgur.com/oTNo6O1
- Your biometrics collection letter will need to be printed off and taken to your nearest VAC for processing, it's a good idea to search the forums for your local VAC to see other users experiences: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/where-to-give-biometrics.asp
- Medical request letters need to be printed off and an appointment needs to be made with a CIC approved physician: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx
- Once the medical and biometrics are complete/passed, your account will change to show: https://imgur.com/GyMJ9BT
GCKEY Updates
- Your application will then be transferred to your local VO, or in some instances CPC-Mississauga. CIC will send an email to the sponsor confirming which VO it has gone to. https://imgur.com/a/fjKRY
- Once the VO begins to process the application, they will send the PA an email to confirm they have receipted the application, this is known as AOR2. Not all VO's send this email, however. https://imgur.com/3KAwhoK
Checking ECAS
- GCKEY goes through various changes during the final stages, again, this doesn't happen for everyone, unfortunately, and you may find your application show eligibility and background checks in progress from the moment you link your account. You'll see the following towards the end of the process: https://imgur.com/XRQq3yO
- This is the slowest part of the entire process as background and eligibility checks can take a long time to kick in. Some people get ghost updates on GCKEY as the application is worked on. This is shown when the status shows as Application/Profile Updated.
Passport Request (PPR) & Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR)
- ECAS allows you to check for updates on the application and during the final stages will show decision made under the principal applicant's section: https://imgur.com/F3yPtfD
You're then free to land with your COPR.
- Once you've received decision made, you'll get a passport request emailed to you: https://imgur.com/a/RRL6H
- You'll send your passport to the address listed in the email, along with two pictures and the document. If you're from a visa exempt country, they usually request photocopies of your passport rather than the passport itself.
- Once this has been processed, you'll be issued with COPR: https://imgur.com/a/f79qD
- COPR will then be mailed to the address you listed in your PPR: https://imgur.com/a/gTdTl
