Admin please update spreadsheet (No. 56). Thanks in Advance.
my ECAS changed to 'decision made' today.
I did my test yesterday and got a perfect score - very rewarding. My advise to those preparing for the test please read Discover Canada thoroughly until you know every little detail therein. Pay special attention to the pictures and their captions. The questions are not difficult but you need to have a good command of English and the facts about different aspects of Canada i.e. history, government, day to day life, etc. For me it was not common sense. I learnt a lot about Canada in preparing for the test- I fell in love with Canada allover again.
And yes practice, the on-line multiple choice questions as many times as you can.
My interview with the agent after the test could have gone sideways but thank God for the advice on this forum to request for my travel record both from Canada border services and U.S. i94 I didn't have certain stamps but when I produced the records everything changed. I know it says don't request for it but in my case if I hadn't they would have to request for it who knows when and that would be more time wasted. Now looking forward to oath ceremony invite. I was told the standard - expect the oath invite in 2-3 months.
Cheers to all those still on the journey...the waiting is brutal but like birth pains, it will be bitter-sweet in the end and worth it all.

My worst nightmare just became a reality. I applied in May, 2018, got my AOR in July, 2018, and it changed to 'In Progress' in August 2018.
I've been regularly checking my application online until a few days ago when it disappeared and I was no longer able to check my status. My gut feeling told me something is wrong and I called CIC this morning...

SO! My application was deemed ineligible and rejected, case closed, and they sent me a letter/package with my documents back to me (though I still haven't received it yet). They also refunded me my application fee (but I haven't received it either).

REASON: Not enough days of physical presence in Canada - apparently I made a mistake in my calculation. I will find out what the mistake is once I get that letter - not exactly sure what happened given that I paid extra to the immigrant consultant who audited my application and said it was perfect! It's actually funny as I clearly remember him saying it was perfect. Apparently, it's not!

BUT - the biggest concern of mine is that not only they accepted my application at Nova Scotia and sent me an AOR, but that they actually forwarded my case to my city. They started working on it in August and they WAITED until January to tell me that there was something wrong with my application. It's overwhelmingly shocking. The CIC agent felt really bad for me and confirmed it was a human error on their end and they should have returned to me back in July so that I could've re-applied. He said I'm sorry, but I can't help you - it's the officer's decision. And I understand that.
I am extremely upset and disappointed, to say the least. But my biggest concern is not that I have to apply from scratch and wait for another year or so, but the fact that they confirmed it was their mistake. So I have a question for you, my friends, just to see if there is any suggestion you might have.

The CIC agent felt bad for me over the phone this morning and strongly encouraged me to re-apply from scratch (because now I'm clearly eligible based on my presence in Canada since last May) but urgently (through urgent processing). He briefly described the procedure, told me to mark my envelope accordingly and write a letter of explanation stating that I waited for so long because of the CIC's mistake, explain the situation, attach my old case # as evidence and tell them it went to 'processing' instead of being sent to me right away when they should have discovered a discrepancy. But I just read their definition of 'emergency' and clear my case is rather an exception and very different from the real emergencies, but I am wondering if I should still give it a try and apply 'urgently'. Any suggestions/ideas? Do you think it's a worth a try?

Many thanks,
D
I am so sorry you went through this, truly, especially with it being their error, and for this long.

I would definitely reapply with a request for urgent processing, and include a cover letter explaining your situation in detail, the time you waited, how it went to Sydney then local then IP then months went by (and mention CIC agent on the phone suggested you request urgent processing and relay the conversation you had with them). My advice is: be REALLY NICE when writing the letter, don't demand anything or be petulant. Say you understand mistakes occur, that IRCC officers go through a lot of paperwork and you know that somethings can get missed, but that you waited X amount of time and would appreciate them expediting the process, if at all possible (things like that). Worst case scenario, they will deny the request for urgent processing and process the application normally. Best case, they expedite it. There is really no downside to this!
Keep in mind there are human beings reading what you write, so write a letter you would like to read, and in a way that you would emphasize with whomever is writing it. If you read a letter going "WELL YOU SCREWED ME SO YOU OWE ME" you would probably not be very inclined to assist that person, I am sure you get what I mean :) If you would like, send me a PM and I can review the letter (I am no specialist, but I do write a fair amount of similar documents). Good luck!

Please inform CIC that you are travelling in May through call centre and fax as well. Then, wait for them to reschedule earlier or later.

I think they have to schedule you for oath , then after you can reschedule. Just an opinion
