And already I have a question...

Does anyone know how the passport request stage works? Does it matter what country the applicant is in when they send it? How long does it take? Can CIC return it to any address or only the address listed?

From what I understand, applicants from visa excempt countries don't have to send in their passport, they receive COPR in the mail.

I haven't received the sponsor approval yet, still waiting. But in the application status page, there is two columns one for Sponsorship approval and other is PR application. both says in process, when i click on the IN PROCESS under the PR applicant section, it says that we started processing your PR application on August 2 2016. Does it mean I have been approved for sponsor and my spouse file has been transferred ? Please advise

I submitted my application on May 27 2016, received AOR1 on June 11 2016. still no SA yet ?

Yes Sansglee - This means you are approved as a sponsor. All you have to do is call CIC and inform them you did not received any confirmation yet. There are lot of applicants who did not got SA confirmation (including me). I called them and was told that my Sponsorship application was approved and file was sent to VISA OFFICE for further processing and i might receive email in a week or so....so relax you are approved as a sponsor and your file is in process too

Hi everyone, I received A0R2 via email dated July 26th 2016 from Warsaw. Good luck to all. ;)

Did you apply outland or inland?

If outland from what country are you going to sponsor your spouse?

Outland and my spouse is a citizen of the United States

Hi Everyone!
Congrats to all that got their AOR2 and hang in there to those that are waiting for SA.

Please do not forget to update your data in the 2016 spreadsheet. I follow the forum (MAY APP) closely, and I see that some people who got AOR2 still have AOR1 in the sheet.
Happy Friday Everyone!

Hello everyone,

Appreciate if anyone could share with us Abu Dhabi VO process, our application has been SA, but yet no AOR2. We really could use any piece of info to keep us holding up our patience.

Thanks everyone.

Hi hopefull_lady
Our application is also in the Paris office and we also started processing on July 22nd.

Our files shows Review of Eligibility and Background Check are both In PROCESS

My husband is in Algeria.
Hoping for a positive result for all of us.

Hi all...

So today we received an additional document request for 3 items:

  • Long Form Marriage Certificate (due in 30 days)
  • FBI - We'd sent a letter saying it was ordered and were waiting for it. (due in 90 days)
  • Right to Permanent Residence fee

Our VO is Ottawa.

Does anyone know what this indicates? Thankfully I do have the long form version of our marriage certificate. I thought that was an odd request. FBI should be in this week or next week... What is the Right to PR fee? Does it show where we are in the process?

Also, since they sent this, will it extend our processing time to the end of the 90 days, or would they pick it up again after FBI is sent?

You have to pay the Right to PR Fee. Follow this link.

Oh yes, I know I have to pay it. :-) I guess I just wondered if it indicated the progress of our application since they requested the fee. I'd read a few places it meant the application was proceeding and we might see DM soon (once they get our other stuff).

Do you guys have any idea how long time it will take for the whole processing?

I think every visa office is different. I went through the November Outland 2015 post and it looks like some people are landing now. So about 9 months. But again depends on your visa office.

Today is Day 70 waiting for news of my SA, which should be nothing but straightforward. The original processing time for SA, when our application was received was 43 days, and now it's up to 55 days. I called two full weeks ago and made an inquiry. The agent said that he would initiate a formal inquiry, and that it could take up to 3 months, but that a response would likely come much more quickly. That being said, I see so many people on here who have been waiting for SA were able to receive confirmation of SA over the phone, after the processing time had passed, and they called CIC. Even though a formal inquiry was started 2 weeks ago, should I persist and call again? Will a different agent be able to tell me more? Should I take the time to link my profile with our application now, and will I learn more? Or, do I just need to be exceedingly patient and not try to understand CIC, or hope to look for any patterns, based on others? My wife is here now on a TRV, for a one-month visit, and we were hoping to receive some exciting and positive news before she returns home next week (Day 80 of waiting for SA).

Also, I have a question about Guide 3900 (pgs. 12 & 13), and the Length of Undertaking section. The note says that if payments from the federal, provincial, or municipal assistance program are made to your relative while the undertaking is in effect, you will be considered in default. Does this note apply to student loans? My step-daughter will be eligible for university soon after they arrive, and we were hoping to access student loans, or is this not possible because of my undertaking?

Thanks!
