MAY 2015 Spouse Application OUTLAND

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! So some of you probably read that a couple weeks back I got an email (after my docs request) saying that CIC still needed my FBI paperwork, but I had given them the original. I was freaking out because it's a four month wait to receive the FBI stuff, so if they had in fact screwed it up they'd have delayed my application by probably six months.

I called, I visited my local MP, and I sent a case specific inquiry - all to no avail until about a week ago when someone actually replied to the case specific inquiry (even though the reply email said it would take 30 business days!) saying to disregard the precious email; that they did in fact have everything they needed.

I was still worried that my application had gotten shuffled around and stuck in some "waiting for stuff from her" pile....but I just logged into ECAS and found Decision Made waiting for me like a huge Christmas miracle!!!!

AAAAAGH!!!! So excited, and so happy. I cannot wait to finish everything and be done with CIC (for a couple years, anyway....then citizenship!)

My rough timeline (give or take a few days on dates, I'm on mobile):

Filed: May 21, 2015
SA: July 27, 2015
Doc Request: October 23, 2015
Additional (incorrect) email requesting FBI report: November 26, 2015
Decision Made: December 21, 2015!!!!!

What great news!!! I'm sooo happy for you! This is a huge relief huh?? I hope I'm next. Seeing you and I are nearly in the same boat here, and you got a DM, I feel like I may have a chance before March then. I didn't get an MP on my side though! If it takes me another month or two, I am going to bet that MP made a difference.

You know what, I actually called the MP back and he said that he called but no one had even gotten back to him yet. So who knows. Maybe it was just the combination of me harassing them constantly on all avenues.

Sooooo I got DM last night and today the postal fairy brought me my COPR! Say what?! I also was never asked to have my pictures re-done. Now just for landing!!!!!

Just wondering what timelines are like between the online application being updated to 'decision made' and the mail arriving? A bit of background on our application.

We applied for Outland Sponsorship from the UK (so the London office is where they are processing)

1.We received your application for permanent residence on May 4, 2015.
2.We started processing your application on July 9, 2015. - On this date we received an email stating that I (the sponsor) had been approved.
3.Medical results have been received.
4.We sent you correspondence on November 4, 2015. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

The correspondence sent to us with a request for RPRF Payment, which we paid and sent receipt to them by both email and mail with the copy of their request on the same day that they emailed us with the request. I recently noticed that his part of the application has changed from 'in process' to 'decision made'. We have been checking the mail everyday waiting for the news. Should we be worried? Thanks in advance for any advice given, also, Merry Christmas!

This sounds like a totally normal and great timeline. If you were going to be denied I think they would have tried to set up an interview. Depending on when your status changed to decision made it could be anywhere from a day to three weeks... someone I think it took a month to get their papers. I think you'll get your papers soon. The holiday season might have lagged the mail service.

My arrival to Canada was very smooth. I arrived with my wife at Toronto airport on the 7th of December with 6 suitcases. They didn't check any of them. The CBSA officer asked me if I have something to declare and when I told him that we only have over 10 000 CAD cash said 'Welcome home'. My wife asked him if this is it? He replied with a smile on his face that he can check our suitcases if we really want to but this is it.
The next day I went to get a SIN number (the airport office was closed on the arrival day because we arrived around 10 pm), opened a bank account, applied for a credit card, found a condo within the next few days.
It was all very smooth and pleasant

Got a letter from the CIC asking for a police clearance from China.
Said it is our final reminder ( never been asked for one yet to start with )
Gave us 7 days to give them it.


Problem is........ my husband has never even been to China ...... ever .....

I am going to lose my mind......

has your husband been asked for an interview? my understanding is that the decision is very rarely negative without giving the applicant an opportunity to answer to CIC's concerns in an interview. fingers crossed for you!!

FruitBall (posted above in this thread) also was asked erroneously for an Police Certificate. He/She was told that they were sorry about the wrong request and then a couple weeks later got a DM and their papers! So I am guessing they made a mistake with you, too, and realized it and approved your application. Without an interview or any other kind of contact, I can't imagine they would deny you right away like this.

If worse comes to worse and you were rejected through their error try to contact your local MP.
