Others please feel free to correct me, but I think AOR just means that they have opened your file and that payment to process it has been received - otherwise they send the file back right away. I don't think it means they have checked completeness otherwise.

No, but there is still some of Friday left. Otherwise it is a weekend of wondering if AOR arrives on Monday.

AOR emails generally go out the day after the AOR is processed, so you the window of emails is generally Tuesday to Saturday.

From the 2015 spreadsheet, the average wait for AOR is 44 days, so May 25 means July 8 on average. Looking just at May, it's been 28 to 36 days. However, there tends to be a bulge whenever there is a public holiday involved (Victoria Day on May 18), so there will be a few less applications just before the long weekend, and a spike in the days following. Thus, it gives the impression of "going faster" leading into the holiday and "going slower" following the holiday, but really just is a result of the natural distribution of applications by date.

In summary, if you keep your expectations low, you get surprised when it comes "early".
