Dejaavu said:The interview is mandatory. It depends on each case. Some people get friendly officers who just ask a few general questions. Some officers can be tough checking every single stamp and asking very probing questions. It is best to prepared by bringing as much as proof about physical presence in Canada such as T4s, NOAs, lease agreements/mortgage statements/letter of employment and also if have boarding passes from your trips.
My interview was about 10 minutes and the officer went thru my passport and each stamp thoroughly. Good luck!
