Hi Everyone,

I received PPR magic mail today.

@ musti2683: did you received any update??

when did you get your email today?

Thanks Everyone.

@AINP2014: Just now i got this mail.

Hi,

They mentioned our old address and asked to review it and let them know about, if its changed. But ECas is showing updated address, don't know why they are mentioning old address.

Is it required to drop them a mail to update the new address or it should be good to send passport directly with new address on return envelope?

Hi guys. I saw that there is lot of people that really have knowledge about immigration, so i would like to ask you for a little help.
I have applied for PR in Sydney Nova Scotia under Sinp in October 2013, from within Canada. 3 weeks later they asked me to do my medical and i did it. That was on 17 of November. Two weeks later they have changed my status to medical received and it is like that since then. Here are my questions.

If i did my medical, is that mean that background check is completed?

What is the next step they need to do?

What is the next step that i need to do?

How long does it usually take, (after medical is done) to be asked to send them passports.

Is there any more precise way to check application status.

Sorry if i have to many questions, but i am worried that there is some problem. :)

Thanks in advance

Hello

Now they will ask you for additional papers, that is if you have something incomplete on your background declaration form or if they need your Police certificates, either from Canada or from your home country. If you have already submitted your PCC and if there is nothing incomplete in your BG form then just wait till your status changes to "In Process". After your status changes to In process from Application received, then they will begin your actual Background check and withing a week ask you to pay your RPRF fee. You do not have to do anything, they will ask you if they need anything. After your application is transferred to Ottawa, then wait for 2-3 months, you will get your Passport request. Once you see "decision made" on your status, then you can heave a sigh of relief.
Word of advise, please renew your passport if its validity is expiring. I had this problem. Till then just focus on your job.

Best of Luck

No I am still waiting for the COPR. I heard it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get your COPR. Some of my friends got it within 2 weeks. I think it depends on case to case. I have sent mine last week. The return mail tracker is not activated yet.

Hi jvgr, you may be right. It might differ from case to case. But I believe at this stage its more like they work on passports that they receive first. Not much paperwork is required here as decision has been made at this stage. I might be wrong. What do you think ? By the way any news on your passport ? I believe we sent it on the same dates.

Thanks for swift response.
now, what do you mean by Background check? Is that that thing to make sure that i did not committed some crime or something like that back home, or something else?

Thank you

Mostly yes, the PCC itself is evidence if any or no crime has been committed by you in your home country or country of residence. Background check is more then that. They would check if your name and information matches anyone who is being hunted by the intelligence agencies. I think they outsource this work to another agency. Not too sure how they do it.

Thats really nice - but i would replace the words 'will' with 'may' - because the details you provided here are from your personal experience or readings on this forum or elsewhere - and every case is different - therefore .... this could lead them (current and future applicants) astray !!!
