Hey everyone. I wanted to get some suggestions regarding the passport request process from new delhi. My sponsor and I are living in saudi arabia. We selected new delhi as our vo. Since new delhi asks for passport early in the process, and we are residing outside india, its difficult to send the passport right away. Saudi rules do not allow us to keep the passport with us. We heard we can ask new delhi to give us a second passport request when our application has been completely reviewed and decision made. Is this right? And any other ideas as to what to do about this?
Also, another question is what do they generally ask in interviews? And is the interview requested for both sponsor and applicant?

So out of 58 applicants in May, 5 have not heard anything yet..... One of them is me, three of the five are from Buffalo. Is there any reason to believe they have lost the application? Is there any way to check, the website says if I email and it is not beyond the timeframe, they won't respond.

Peggy - call CIC if it has been more than the time they say on the site. I was terrified they lost my application so I called. They told me I was in the system but I hadn't been looked at yet. 4 hours later I got an e-mail saying I had been approved as a sponsor.

i ws canadian immigrant at th time i sent ma file but now recently i got my canadian passport as citizen and i got my husband's last name on new passport ...so how do i let immigration know th i changed ma last name and i am citizen now?

My wife got the email from CPP-Ottawa last night that she was approved as my sponsor. Hope to be in Canada for Christmas. Good luck to everyone

Congrats to all of you who got their approvals as well!!

We got our approval letter today and I tried logging into ecas. I can log in with my husbands info and it says they received the app on May 17, sent us the letter on Aug 20 and that they received the medicals (yay, because I was always worried that they might get lost or whatever). I cannot login with my info yet, I guess I just have to keep trying.

My husband was sent the email approval today also. It was rec'd on May 18.

Tried to call yesterday till I ran out of time.... I love how the message says they won't tolerate harrassment on the phone. Maybe even the most even tempered person is reduced to hysteria at the way this system works? I'll try again monday.......

I phoned them yesterday and got through on the 15th try with a 30 minute waiting time, which made me late for work but I was just happy to get through. The agent said that my file is still open in Mississauga and nothing has happened yet in regards to a decision on my Sponsorship. But the agent doesn't have any more information than that. The agent said that usually this means something is missing but they should contact me, and they haven't. I have a hard time believing anything is missing, I'm confident that I included everything correctly filled out in the right order. Even though I phone them, they don't know any answers. On Monday we will be 4 days short of 4 months since they received our application and not a single word from them. When can I write my MP?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to know if PR card is required for exiting Canada?
My job situation is such that I might have to make my landing in Canada after I get my PR visa and return for a couple months to the resident country. I realize that the PR card takes about 2 months to be mailed out. Can my wife pick up the card on my behalf and send it to me so I can have it to me when I need to re enter Canada?

Yes, I think she can. Just make sure it's mailed to her then she can send it to you.
