MAY 2011 Application- Process and Timeline

@ mandiebraxton and everyone. Could you please answer the following questions.
1. does the photocopies for marriage certificate, educational qualifications, passport, visa docs need to be notarized (i was of the impression that these need to be notarized only if they have been translated in english)
2. the originals (not notarized) for only experience certificate, IELTS and police certificates are to be sent.
3. do we need to send the birth certificate both for ourself and the spouse. i dont have one presently.
4. Do we need to provide transcripts for the educational qualifications like BSc and MSc from the college/university in india.
please clarify or refer me to the relevant post. Thanks.

shijoal, I advise that you read the guide and other CIC documents before contributing to a question.

Now, CIC states that ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPT (is this what you mean by mark list? then I am sorry! ). Note, someone's application was rejected bcos he only sent his certificates without his transcripts. In your earlier contribution, you also said photocopies of work experience will suffice when CIC clearly states that applicants need to send original and up-to-date work experience letters. Hope you get my drift. Mandie

@Shijoal. yeah the experience certificate is definitely original. it is clearly mentioned in instructions. Thanks Mandie . my question is BSc and MSc are academic qualifications not professional like nursing, engineering or pharmacy. does the college/university provides the transcripts for same.

Did you check your VO's checklist? The greatest senior member of this forum is the official site. You must first spend lots of hours reading what Canada wants you to submit.
And yes, you have to give original transcripts + they must be in a university sealed envelop. Meaning you will have to request from your uni for one, or submit the one you already have after you go to the university for them to seal it in an envelop and sign it with the uni's stamp.

You must take ALL requested documents from CIC and VO very very serious! They is no "maybe" and no "what if". They could fail you over any missing or not notarized/translated document that they state in their list.

Thanks Thalia. You have a great point. somethings are vague in the instructions, so just thought of clarifying those here. will read more about the transcripts part.

And I only say this cause myself almost provided a non-notarized copy of my birth certificate. I guess I was lucky that last minute I did the right thing (provided word-by-word what CIC asks for), cause after I submitted my app I read in this forum about cases that were failed over birth certificates. It seemed such a small detail to me at first, but after reading in this forum the things that are happening....nothing is a small detail and we have to be very careful.
So better to be safe than sorry, and overlook the fact that is time-consuming and that we have to face so much bureaucracy...

I couldn't agree with you more on birth certs. I had notariszed all my docs except birth cert as I thought I couldn't find it. So I intended to attach a note that I will send it at a later date . I thopught it was a minor ommission and surely CIC won't mind? Until I saw on the tracker that some applications were returned cos there was no birth cert attached! I looked every nook and cranny until I found it and got it notarized.....in short, take every doc request in whatever form serious! Mandie

In reply to someone's query here, a very senior member on this forum said that if the matriculation cert contains the DOB, and you don't have a birth cert then just send the matriculation cert and it will suffice. I am also a strong believer of the fact that each and every doc that CIC asks for, MUST be sent. You surely put your case at risk by not complying CIC's instructions in letter and spirit. If at all in someone's case, CIC did accept the matriculation cert for birth cert, should not be set as a precedent.

Date of Birth certificate omission is a BIG RISK.... You can include a cover letter explaining that you were not registered, and also you can get the No entry record from the Office that issues Certificates. This should be only done if you are totally unable to obtain DOB Cert.
However though seniors have advised that Matriculation Cert might suffice, but, remember it solely on the discretion of the Visa Officer.....if he sends it back due to NO Birth Certificate, you cannot do anything about it.

And also Application filling and compilation of the documents is a personal matter. CIO and Visa Office check Lists are absolute Guide, all we have to do is complete the package to the best of our abilities. Some documents like IELTS, Forms, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate etc etc have been made compulsory, and, original are required to be sent (London Visa Office).

Just complete everything you can, and if something is omitted or you are unable to send, include a letter of explanation. You can take advice on the forum, but, its just an advice...

Decision lies with you and the officer who will process your case. May be sometime the applicant is so strong and the visa officer thinks he will benefit greatly to Canada, or he had a bonus or bought a new Car or found a bag of money, or just fell in love with someone recently and is all rosy, they might overlook few things. Or may be the officer had a fight with his wife, is pissed at his Boss, or just is fed up of his monotonous job, and while processing your application will transfer the pain to you as well Who knows....

SO prepare everything to the best of your abilities, as per Check Lists.

to submit transcript orginal in sealed cover from university. in that case can i sent transcript orginal with out
sealed from university? will they eccept that?
