Got accepted into the program and my offer letter states:
"You will have a maximum of four months (May to August 2021) to complete the required courses listed on the last page of this letter. Upon satisfactory completion of your qualifying requirements, you may apply for transfer to regular student status. Once you have transferred to regular student status, the normal duration for the M.Eng. course-based program with a specialization in Software Engineering is eight months*, and it is expected that you will take a set of defined courses in the Fall and Winter terms. You will have a maximum of six years from your program start date to complete all the degree requirements."*
I was just wondering what the implications of this would be on getting a Post Graduation Work Permit, or if graduating from this program would even make me eligible for the permit. From what I understand from the resources available on your website, programs shorter than 8 months are not eligible and ones longer than 8 months can be eligible for a permit as long as the duration of study. I'm confused as to where this program would fall as I would have to study for 1 year but the program duration is 8 months, as per the offer letter. Kinda confused about this, would highly appreciate your input if you have any.

Assuming they do give me a 1-year permit, do you think it's enough to look for work? Would you say it it would be too risky?

Yes you'll get a 1 year pgwp because it is a cohort program just like petroleum engineering in Ucal and job prospects will depend upon your skills.

I'm also a student at university of Calgary pursuing MEng Environmental engineering specialization in the chemical and petroleum engineering department.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know any international student pursuing my degree? I would really like to find out more about the degree but there isn't much information about it on the internet as it's a relatively new degree.

Actually I don't know anyone from this stream cause it's fairly new program but still if you have doubts regarding any stuff related to the university itself then just ping me.

Hi, I applied on 08/10 and got the offer on 28/10. I remember reading somewhere on the program website that they process applications as they come in. So hopefully you will hear back from them soon. All the best!

Hi I also got the admission for the same program, will you join the program? I calculated the CRS, it might become risky option.
