Actually guys, a more correct mathematical model is

PR=f(Marrying a Canadian, having a baby born in Canada, etc) + ɛ
where f is function of
ɛ is a Gaussian noise

but would that be an easier process than this stupid EE?

LMAOF..... :P pls go ahead and keep us posted on your Canadian saga ;D

A colleague had possibly tried this route ( I want to give her benefit of doubt thinking she was really in love) and she finally succeeded in getting PR - everything on spousal sponsorship through her common-law partner. Just few months back the guy ran away. Now she is totally stuck and considering to go back to her home country. She would not get Citizenship and it seems there's some limitations on her working in Canada because of the clauses under which she got PR through spousal sponsorship.

LOL I am not considering this route at all. even if EE doesn't work out (I hope it does, we've spent so much money to be here), I'll just go to another country!

It's sad being an immigrant but we're only doing it because this is better than our own home country.

Hopefully EE will work in our favor soon..

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but having a Canadian baby means nothing to CIC. I have a 5 month old son born in Canada and if we don't get permanent residency they would effectively kick him out of his own country.

oh no!! Im sorry to hear that!

see that's what I would think also, because i read it somewhere in the news before, that just because a person has a kid born in Canada, does not guarantee that the mom/dad can stay in Canada. They would still have to go through the process of getting the PR like regular people. I hope everything works out for you.

Don't quote me on this but I have heard you can actually send your application to an overseas processing centre as an 'Outside' application, this is just second hand info so take it with a grain of salt but the person I spoke to on Facebook said that he got his spouse's PR within 12 weeks by sending the application to Sydney, Aust (spouse was Australian) rather than going the inland route. The one issue is that if you get called up for an interview then you'll have to travel back to that country.

12 weeks?! that is the fastest i have ever heard of. but yes, surprisingly, applying outside of the country to immigrate in is faster than applying from inside the country.

You can apply "Outland", while "in" Canada, but visa office depends on your country of origin, you don't get to pick the one with the shortest processing time! Lots of information on the family board here.

You can apply for, or get a birth certificate for the child as soon as possible. If worst comes to pass, this would at least secure the child's future, as a "Canadian born", Canadian citizen.

Kinda obvious you just can't pick which country to choose don't you think? 8)

:). To you & me, maybe! I was in pedantic mode when I replied ;) Too often I see people half-read a reply & misinterprete it leading to wild flights of fantasy ...

My scenario exactly. Minus the baby bit!
My PGWP expires in 2 months, had submitted my application for PR under CEC in mid-October as wanting to qualify under my own credentials. But missed out by a couple of days, and had it returned to me in early January. I've got 448 on my EE score, and have decided to apply with my common-law partner for spousal sponsorship. Less stress of waiting for draws and unknowns. The PR will arrive in 2 years, and i should hopefully get an OWP in 4 months.
I wish we had applied for this over a year ago, but hadn't realised that CIC were gonna move the goalposts! ;D

I hope I could do the same. I'm living with my partner at the moment too, but I haven't looked into the spousal sponsorship yet.
I don't want to leave everything behind either. I HAVE A CAT :"(

I would imagine a large amount of people are now seriously considering this route to obtaining PR, what choice do you have if your score is very low? It's been done in America for years

And this is exactly why people who are in genuine relationships have to go through a very long and complicated process to sponsor their spouses. Because of people like you who think that marrying a Canadian citizen is a free ticket into Canada. Pathetic!! Disgusting! Fraud!!
