hi im new here and was just about to start submitting our applications i was just wondering if anyone from you have the same situation and if ur sponsorship was approved thanks.. lets help each other work things out ..much love❤️

You are not really giving us much to go on, here. What is your status in Canada? Were you sponsored to Canada by your previous husband, or vice-versa? How long has it been since you, or your previous husband, landed in Canada? Is your previous husband on social assistance? Are you working, and have you gone through the financial calculations for sponsorship? How long did you know your new bf before you were married? How long after your divorce before you were re-married?

Every case is different.

Hi im the sponsor im a permanent resident got my PR through the live in caregiver program that was early 2014 ,i was married in the phillippines 2009, i got divorced last 2012 and did not sponsor my husband anymore, re married my new boyfriend in HK last may 2017 he is single and im divorced .. im working fulltime and not in any social assistance. Met my bf online last 2014, went home Last nov 2016 to meet him in person came back to canada last jan 2017, went home again to philippines last may 2017 and got married in HK.. do u think there will be no problem if i sponsor him under spousal sponsorship? It looks like there was a lot of time between the different events, which is good. Make sure you select your photos carefully, as well as any chat records, etc. They should show the beginning and progression of your relationship. Good luck.

Hello, thanks for ur reply appreciate it but I still have one question though , are they gonna ask for advisory on marriage /record of marriage from the Philippines? Because we did not register our marriage there since our marriage is held in hongkong though where both Filipinos, it is because in the Phillippines i am (the sponsor) still considered married since divorce is not recognized there ,but i got my divorced here in Canada where it is legal and we got married in hongkong wer divorced is legal as well, do u think we will have a problem afterwards? Thanks again :)

You will need the marriage certificate from your marriage to your second husband in Hong Kong, and the divorce certificate from Canada. Has your ex-husband moved on with his life, or are there complications that have yet to be resolved? Do you have a formal separation agreement, signed by both parties?

CIC is familiar with the local laws and customs of the country that they are responsible for, and it is well known that the Philippines does not recognize divorce. If you search this forum with keywords philippines and divorce, you will find that many couples have gone through this, and it is generally not an issue.

You will still need to provide evidence that your relationship is genuine, just like any other application. Just having a marriage certificate is not enough.

We both moved on he already has a gf and our last conversation was our plan to file for annulment on dec.. I have all the eveidence to prove it.. we have pictures from all over since we travelled alot since i went for vacation the first time though those pictures are not too intimate , just normal pictures no kissing etc.. i have photos on our weddings too, itenerary tickets, chat conversation since 2014, phone bills, anniversary valentine birthday cards sent since 2014 (i pick diff year and dates since we have tons) , remittances, cert from the bank we do have joint account and the like.. i was just curious as to what to do if they ask for advisory on marriage on the latter part which we dont have , or are they gonna ask for it even if our marriage is in Hk, what r the things we need to do if they ask? Thank u so much for ur replies ur such a great help this has been stressing me for a while now i cant submit our application yet because i was worried our effort will just be put to waste just bec we cant provide advisory on marriage in the end .. :(

So, you had a Canadian divorce, but the annulment in the Philippines is still pending?

This thread may be of interest to you. Not exactly the same situation as yours, but some interesting information by crzy_canadian:

thanks .. i read the thread its n0t the same as mine that thread if far more complicated than iam, because the principal applicant who is my hubby now whom i married in HK WAS SINGLE wen we get married . While I (the sponsor) was previously married in the Philippines and got divorced here in canada.. but i really appreciate your help though, however i still have too mamy questions in mind.. thanks again :)

As far as the sponsorship matter it wont have any issues there just submit all the possible proof that you have about your marriage and relationship with your new husband. With the annulment i know you will spend a lot of money there, you should have waited for your citizenship so you can file just the recognition of divorce not annullment

Hi , we have the same problem can you please give me an update on your application

hi.. my husband and i got married in hongkong but were both single.. it was stated in DFA that you need to.report your marriage abroad.. your husband is a filipino and for philippine requirement you need to provide advisory of marriage along with your PSA report of marriage thid will serve as your marriage certificate registered IN Phil..

Hi,
Same situation with the OP. Did an outland app in Dec 2016, just landed in Canada last July 22 with 1 child from previous marriage. So don't fret as long as you guys have all the required documents, you should be fine! All the best :)
