Yeah its the only thing thats changed (from what I know), we called this morning and they said you now need the full cartilla (which makes no sense) is your husband in the same situation nessa?? We are going to call again tomorrow and ask for the NEW requirements because they now leave out a big group of people to get the PGR :(
No, luckily my husband did his military service when he was 18 and has his full cartilla! I feel really bad for all the people who don´t have it though.....I can´t imagine! But there is always a solution!

Turns out my hubby is the same, completed when he was 18 and his father still has the information, phew ! But will keep looking for a solution for the rest of you, there must be a way around this, so everyone should keep posting if they find a solution or thier experience ..

Ok another marriage question, so since we have to wait till I am divorced a year before being married in Mexico, we are trying to come up with another plan since we are eager to be married as well as our families.

Can I apply for a marriage license here in Canada and have the paperwork done here so that we are legally married, then we can have a ceremony/celebration in Mexico, anyone know if this is possible while my hubby is in Mexico and I am here ?

Mexi, I think the license has to be for the country you plan to be married in...

If US visit visa is not an option... what about another country close to Mexico that is visa exempt? I know it may not be cost efficient to have everyone there but even if you cloud have a few and then do another ceremony later or vow renewal...

For example...

what if you and hubby go to Panama with a couple witnesses (i think Panama is visa exempt). Get married there and then go back to Mexico and have a vow renewal ceremony with everyone. If you find out what the marriage laws are there (ie. in jamaica you have to be in the country 48 hrs b4 you can marry) you may be able to go to Panama, then go back to Mexico and have a ig celebration there all within the same week...

I just thought it might help and I'm sure Immigration would accept that...

Thanks Jamgirl, not a bad idea ! I was also reading about proxy marriages, they seem to be accepted by immigration but a confusing process. We plan to do a make-up ceromony and wedding with friends in family in mexico but would like to legalize it and of course avoid the one year wait time in Mexico. We have been tossing up the idea of Los Vegas, we just need to see if he cant get a visitors visa to the US and make sure that will be acceptable to immigration.

ok just checked visa exempt countries...

Guatemala and Belize are both visa exempt for Mexican citizens... therefore you could both travel there with passports to do the wedding...

now if this is an option for you... you just have to find out what the marriage requirements are...

here is a link for the visa exemptions----> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Mexican_citizens

so hypothetically speaking... say you go for one week... arrive in mexico sunday, travel to "X" country on monday. get married on wednesday. travel back to mexico on thursday, have vow renewal on friday and go home sunday??? its a busy week but it could be done... depending on the regulations surrounding "X" country

Hey Miss

I havent read all the post, but getting married in Mexico is quite easy. My futur husband is Mexican, I'm Canadian and we'll get married in a month.

When you get here you need to go to the Immigration and ask for the permit to get married ( 2600pesos), bring the original of you birth Certificate. Then you have to go to el Registro civil with the paper that the immigration will give you. You have to go to pre marital classes (3hrs) and go to the court to get married (100pesos) that it!

This is very helpful info!.
I now understand what you need to get married in Mexico, registro civil wedding.
Does anyone know what you need to get married in Mexico in the church (religious wedding only)?.
My situation: Canadian PR already. Married in Vegas (registro civil only, not by the church), USA. Live in Canada. Divorced. Never been married by the church before, catholic. Wife: Canadian born, never married before, catholic. Would like to marry (religious wedding only with reception) in Mexico City (San Angel). We have 2 kids (ours, no previous children)
Thanks for you help in advance!.
Rob.

Your wife will need her Canadien Birth Certificate ( less than 1 year old )then she will have to go to the Mexican Consulate to translate it and also and really important she need the Mexican seal behind her original birth certificate and on the translation. She will need her visa (tourist or FM3 o FM2 ) . In Mexico, she will have to go on the Mexican Government to fill up the permission to get married. Print that. Go to the immigration with 2600 pesos ask for the permit which last 30 days ( get marry within 30 days after you receive the permit ) that about it..

The only issue I have at the moment is we need to wait one year from my divorce date which is one year from now pretty much, even though I was seperated for almost 4 years now. Apparently there is no way around this when marrying in Mexico, we will still do it, but we will have to wait ....
