Hi, I am a PR of Canada who is going to sponsor his spouse in India. Now, we are going to get a registered marriage done after the traditional ceremony.
As per Mumbai Marriage registration office, they only give out one original certificate.
When filing the application forms, Do I have to send in the original marriage certificate or will a photocopy do? The marriage certificate will be in English and hence no translation is needed.
The guide available on CIC website does not clearly demarcate and say whether we should send in the original or photocopy. They do specify that the the original of the PCC is needed but when it comes to marriage certificate, they say in the beginning of the guide 'submit photocopies unless instructed otherwise' and when it comes to the sponsored person documents checklist, they just say 'submit marriage certificate'.
