I bought 100 CAD today to prepare for my trip this weekend. OMG the 100 CAD bill is so beautiful! Canadian money are so much more beautiful than USA money, event tho USD is more valuable o_O
What would you rather have beauty of value? LOL

It is indeed beautiful. One of my favourites currency notes too.

On the back of the bill it says "Insulin" then I looked it up and realized that insulin was invented at U of Toronto. Wow! Such a big invention came from Canada, it has saved the lives of so many diabetics.

I have lived here more than a year I have not seen a 50 or 100 dollar bills here, ATMs give only 20's which sometimes in stores I pay and get 10's or 5's and coins back. I guess the 100s and 50's are special sold only abroad lol.
USD's are ugly I agree, funnily I have seen them in the early 80's with my Grandma and I was surprised they still look the same :p

I wanted to buy smaller bills 20s or 10s because they are easier to use, but the exchange office didn't have any smaller ones. It was actually hard to find any Canadian currency, I had to visit a few exchange offices and finally I was able to get a hold of a 100. I also visited a bank and the bank said that I would have to order any CAD one day in advance and then come to collect it the next day. Such a headache. It is so much easier to buy USD.

I lived off my Transfer (Wise) account & my foreign CCs when I first landed here in Canada. Otherwise also I travel often for work, at least last 12-13 years stopped converting cash anywhere I travel.

Yeah I plan to use CCs in general but wanted to have some cash for emergencies, like when the CC fails when you try to buy peanuts on the plane. And, I know they ask how much money you are bringing at the border so I felt weird to say $0. Now at least I can say 100 CAD LOL

You need to ask the teller for $100 specifically. They don't circulate high dollar bills in ATMs as they aint accepted most retails.

The patent to Insulin was given for free (or for very little iirc).
