I had a few questions on the process:
  • I see on the status tracker that some people were asked for fingerprints while some weren't prior to background verification completion. What was the criteria used as I wasn't asked for fingerprints so far?
  • I just took my online test and it said the next step is an interview. However, I don't see anybody mentioning anything about an interview so far. Is that step removed these days?
  • Based on prior data for online applicants, how long do you guys think we'd have to wait for before the Oath invite?
The interview is not for everyone. It is random. Usually people who take the test outside of Canada are required to have an interview. Otherwise, they just want to chat and verify docs. The Oath invite hard to say. 3 months to 6 months I would say. My guess is based on the friends' application and their timeline. So, please take it with a grain of salt.

Update the application status so far:
Received test invitation: Oct 27, 2022 (Not Oct 28!)
Test window: Oct 31 12:00 AM - Nov 21 12:59 AM
However, I got another email on Nov 16 correcting the test end date to 2022/11/20 (yyyy/mm/dd) at 11:59 AM Eastern Standard Time, which does not really make sense.

Test taken: Nov 20, 2022 (score 20/20)
Test status updated to completed: Nov 22, 2022

Background verification: In progress
Language skills: In progress
Prohibitions: In progress
Physical presence: In progress
Citizenship ceremony: Not started
Are we going to hear anything soon?

Today is day 7 from when I last checked the IRCC portal for updates.

I wasn't checking all through the summer and life was good. Then once I got background check updated to complete I was checking multiple times a day. It was driving me crazy. So I had to play this game to see how long the streak would last before I checked again.

So far so good. Fingers crossed

Checking constantly doesn't help one bit. In my opinion, it's better to just hope and pray that the IRCC agent assigned to your case doesn't decide to resign or get fired as the IRCC will happily let the case languish for years without taking any action. The CBC did a pretty good article on it https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ircc-immigration-officer-container-placeholder-code-inactive-list-1.6669571

My wife sent hers on Aug 8th and nothing except an update of receipt and that they will check the fingerprints (this was on Sept 12th). "Shortly" has been 3 months and......silence
In the same boat, FP were received by IRCC on July 6th, since then complete silence. They forget I believe.

The only reason hey acknowledged receipt of fingerprints is because they had to issue GCMS notes and they took them out on Sept 12th.

Thanks for this link. Yes, I really hope none of gets an agent that leaves mid way.

Yes, checking constantly just raises the anxiety. I wish I could just forget about it. I couldn't. So I am playing this game. Day 7 today, so far so good.

any solution to this?
and how do i check with IRCC
Even if you find out where the file is, there's not much you can do. IRCC just doesn't care enough to do anything about it. What I heard from an IRCC staff was the processing time is 24 months so any inquiries beforehand would just be referred to look at the processing times. If you have an urgent request then you can contact ircc if not then you will be made to wait till the staff returns from Bahamas
