What options do I select to get through to an agent on the phone? I tried what I thought was the right selections and ended up getting kicked off because I don't have an application number to give them since I haven't received the AOR yet.
I used 2,1,1,0 to talk to someone just now, who Only told me they’re still working on february applications.

I called IRCC and the lady said you called us last week as well. There is no update on your file since the last time you call because we keep a note on the file when someone enquires about a file.

Does that mean calling them has a negative impact on the file?
Also, the lady said there is no officer assigned on your file yet. How long will it take to process my file as they are now working on May and June files?

We cannot truly believe them when I called the agent said the same thing that no officer has assigned to my file. But on the same day night, we got biometrics request.

No there is absolutely no negative impact from calling call centre and inquiring about your own application bogged down in their mess of a backlog.
If anything it shows that you are anxiously waiting for an answer. Everybody's is restless and impatient when it comes to reuniting with their loved one, its understandable, especially when ircc has not done a great job dealing with this.

Also, if a call agent is being rude to you, DONT be afraid to speak your voice and put them in their place. THEY are there to serve US. They are getting paid to do this, its their JOBS.

I just called six times in a row after each time being told there is a high call volume and hanging up on me. This is insane. 8 months of waiting with no update from IRCC at all on our application. No AOR, nothing. I can't believe this is happening.

You should write to your MP about this and ask for an update.

thousands of people are in the same situation and calling them.

yes 100% agree, an MP can do an accurate status update from ircc, I did that when my app was stuck there for 6 months.
We do not have an MP. We are a Canadian/American Citizen and American citizen living in the US who will move to Canada with our dual citizen son after our application is processed. I'm not sure who to contact outside of just hoping someone will eventually start working on our app.
