My application was received on March 2020.
I checked the new CIC tracker by chance and found test scheduled for me from 21st May but never received email to notify me with steps so I should wait or call them. Also for who did take the test do you use one laptop for the test and is there any camera will be on?

If you don't receive an invitation liink by the day of the test you need to contact them yes, usually they send it 2-3 days before the test.

This is so silly. Should they not be sending the email invite the day when the applicant is able to see the test schedule in the online portal? Wonder what's the deal with the wait/time discrepancy!

No. This is the case with interview too. I could see that I am invited for an interview since last Wednesday but I haven’t got invitation letter yet. I emailed them to check when are they going to send me the letter and they replied, “ You will receive your invitation letter via email next week.”

I checked my tracker too and I got an update that reads,"You need to take your online citizenship test between May 21, 2021 and June 10, 2021".
It also says that the link will be sent to me. When will that happen though? On 21st May or before that?

I would assume you would get it on May 19. AFAIK people get their invites two days before their test window starts.

The testing website is designed in such a way that even if you disable the Built-in Camera and try using your External USB Camera it will again default it to Built-in Camera.

How long it will take for them to update your profile after completing the background check and exam? Thanks.

Everything except "Citizenship Test" and "Citizenship Ceremony" is showing as "In Progress" for me. While for my wife, her background check is shown as completed since January 2021.
I am getting a bit nervous as to what is taking so long to complete the background check for me. Also, if background check was completed in Jan 2021, then that means its been 4 months since any activity on the file. I hope my application doesn't turn out to be one those cases where they simply forget about it and people end up waiting for a long time.

Same here! Interesting my wife BG completed mine still in progress?? Is this a trend for a family??
