Hey Guys,

I have a question. I am currently in interview process with a US based company and they looking for Canadian Citizen candidates who can travel to USA for work on TN visa.
Can this be a reason for urgent processing of my citizenship application?
Yes !

I wonder if that couldn't be used as ammunition, however, to the government, that this person doesn't have an intention to stay in Canada. Complete guess, but that might be something to consider if you decide to go this route. If you state that it's for work, maybe not stress the fact that the company is outside Canada? Just a thought..

Got the FP request. My last name is very unique and i am not sure why i get the request.

After reviewing the biographical information on your application form, there are questions in your case with
regard to sections 21 and/or 22 of the Citizenship Act, explained further on the second page of this letter.
To proceed with your application, you must have your fingerprints taken within ninety (90) days of the
date of this letter.

Is that how they send the FP request?

Damn it's going to be extra delay now

March 2020 applicant?? City/Province of residence?
I guess you can say that there is some movement in your application. May be more delay or less delay. Good luck.

It is no longer a requirement that one must have the intention of staying in Canada once they receive their citizenship. I doubt it will be a factor played into consideration.

Very interesting. Seems like it is due to Section 21 and 22 of the Act. Did you see what they are?

Good to know.. I do wonder if it's a "soft fudge factor", however. I do hope that it's not going to be as tough going as during the Harper administration. My main concern is that the Liberals get booted, Conservatives come back in and toss out all the applications, refund the fees, reintroduce the Harper measures on steroids and then tell people to reapply and they'll get to the applications "When they feel like it."

....or maybe it's just my paranoia talking...

The Citizenship Regulations require that we verify that applicants are free of any prohibitions from a security and
criminal standpoint.
Section 21 of the Citizenship Act stipulates that no period may be counted as a period of physical presence
during which a person has been under a probation order, has been a paroled inmate, or has served a term of
imprisonment.
Section 22 of the Citizenship Act provides that a person cannot become a Canadian citizen in certain
circumstances. These circumstances are based on when your citizenship application was signed. Please visit our
website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/situations.asp to review details about the circumstances
which could prevent you from becoming a Canadian citizen.
Therefore, all applications for citizenship are sent for a search of criminal records, using the biographical
information on the application form, to determine whether there may be cases which require further review with
regard to the provisions of section 21 or 22 of the Citizenship Act.
Where there is an indication that a criminal record may be involved, it is essential to ensure that there is no
error in the identity of the applicant concerned, therefore we request fingerprints to verify the applicant’s
identity.

I believe it's a generic letter to identify the applicants but what i assume if your name is very unique most likely you won't get FP request but that's not correct

Same here, received my email an hour and a half ago.

Section 21 & 22 outline ineligibilty criteria like being on parole, or in jail, and other criteria like being involved in crimes against humanity...
Looking at your signature.. Glad to see some movement in toronto applicants!!!

Exactly ...just your personal paranoia.

Exactly ...just your personal paranoia.

Well, the CAQ tossed all paper CSQ applications a couple of years ago and did almost just that, so it's not exactly without precedent (Although fully cognizant that it's a provincial, rather than a federal rejigging.)
