1. If you are exempt from travel restrictions.

2. yes. However for a BOWP:
Who can apply for a BOWP
To be eligible, you must:

  • live in Canada (Quebec not included)
  • have a valid work permit that expires in 4 months or less
  • be the principal applicant on your permanent residence application
  • have submitted a complete application for permanent residence and passed the completeness check
  • have your acknowledgement of receipt letter
    • we send this letter to your account after we get your permanent residence application
3. See: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/visitors/implied-status-extending-stay.html

Implied status and travelling outside Canada
A temporary resident with implied status who has left Canada may be allowed to

  • re-enter Canada as a temporary resident, pending a decision on the renewal of their application to study or work in Canada, provided they are temporary resident visa (TRV)-exempt, as per section R190, or on a multiple-entry visa.
They may not resume work or study in Canada until their application for renewal has been granted. Those not able to resume work must satisfy the border services officer that they have sufficient means of support.
    It should be noted that this applies to foreign nationals who are TRV exempt, as per paragraph R190(3)(f), and to those with multiple-entry visas. Temporary residents from TRV-required countries who have implied status and are seeking re-entry to Canada following a visit solely to the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon are still considered to be TRV exempt, as per subparagraph R190(3)(f)(ii). In this case, their period of authorized stay is extended, pending a decision. This interpretation of the legislation is consistent with the Federal Court decision of De Brito v. Canada (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration);
  • apply for a new work or study permit at the port of entry (POE), provided they have a right to do so under the IRPR.
Temporary residents from TRV-required countries who are on implied status and are seeking re-entry to Canada following a visit solely to the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon may apply for a new or subsequent work permit at the POE, as they fall under the exception of subsection R198(1).
Note: It is strongly recommended that, at the POE, the temporary resident present documentary proof of their application (copy of their application, copy of the fee payment receipt, etc.) for an extension as a visitor, student or worker.

Is there anyone who's medical was expired during the waiting period and got COPR without any notification of extension on medical?
Mine expired in July. Got a request for a new medical in August, and my Medical status reverted. I assumed this was a sign they were near a final decision so I completed my medical asap although it took several weeks for the doctors office to forward thr results. My profile updated to Medical Passed for a 2nd time as soon as results were sent. Almost 3 months later and still no update, still waiting.

Hello everyone,

I've been following this thread ever since I got my AOR in March.

I finally received the good news today at 4 pm (EST) :)

My application details:
CEC Inland
File processed at CPC-Ottawa
AOR March 30
Medicals passed on July 1
Biometrics on October 2
Background check completed on November 26
The final decision on December 1

It took 8 months for my case to be completed.

I feel everyone waiting to hear at least something from IRCC. I used to check my profile twice a day not to miss any ghost update. When I check my profile on Friday, I saw my profile has been updated but no final news. I knew the good news was on the way but I didn't know when exactly I will be hearing from them. When I received an email from CPC Ottawa stating that I am now a permanent resident of Canada along with my CoPR, I get super excited and didn't know what to do for a while.

I wish everyone gets good news very soon. I, myself, was reading other's good wishes as of yesterday and thinking what the hell is wrong with my case, and today I joined the crew of best wishers :D

Hi, Congratulations!

May I ask you what was the ghost update, and the time between the ghost update and COPR ?
Thanks. I wish you all the best.

Thank you. Ghost update was "application/profile updated" when I checked my account. I saw the update last Friday (Nov 27). Then my application got approved only after 4 days (Dec 1). Wishing you all the best as well :)

Is it just me that the web form link is missing in the account? It used to locate near the "If you don't see any update, contact us", now there is no link there at all.

March 25th and CEC-Outland. My working assumption is I'm Outland and travel restrictions prevent me returning to Canada, even with COPR, so not a priority applicant, or, it could be my extensive travel history is delaying completion of the background check. Possibly neither, just the pandemic, possibly both. Honestly, no idea, grasping at straws here.

Seems like bad coding. The entire section below the 'Application status' box is a hyperlink but it takes you to a bad url. The website could do with an overhaul, tbh.
