That's for requests made under the Access to Information act. That's when you're asking for government records that pertain to corporate information. Asking for your own personal records under the Privacy Act is free.
Anyone waiting for spouse csq ? I am still waiting for spouse from 25june almost 49 working day's complete and my file trasfer to vo Mississauga in June . But they have not transfer file to vo home country. My medical will expire in October month. Anyone same situation like this.
I've ordered personal information before and recently ordered my GCMS notes. Both times were free. ATIP stands for access to information and privacy. It's governed by 2 separate acts. Accessing your own personal information falls under the privacy act and it is free. It's only when you are accessing corporate government information that you have to pay the $5 fee. For example, if you would like the notes from a meeting that took place between the minister and a lobby group. That is governed by the Access to Information act and would cost money.
This link from IRCC states there is no fee. When ordering your GCMS notes, you need to make sure you are indicating that you're requesting personal information under the privacy act. $5 isn't a lot, but why pay if you don't have to.

Whether you order your own personal information or on behalf of someone else does not matter. The information that you're ordering falls under the Privacy Act.
I worked for the government, so one thing I know for sure is that accessing personal information is free. I think the problem is that people indicate they're ordering information under the Access to Information act which prompts the $5 fee.

As per the photo you must submit access to information if you are not a PR or Canadian Citizen. I.e. $5 fee applies.
Interesting. Thanks for this! I wonder if that applies to ordering information about an application that you're the sponsor on. I ordered information on behalf of my husband and indicated that I'm the sponsor. I didn't pay a fee. I'll see what they say when they get back to me.
Today my wife’s medical status changed to passed. We have already received CSQ, done biometrics and got sponsorship approval in May. Background check has been in progress since May and we got the CSQ at the start of August. How long does it normally take from here to get PPR for applicants whose case is with Mississauga?
We got the pre-arrival email today. Our file is at the Pretoria Visa Office. That means eligibility is passed right?
