Who thinks that the changes to ecas status updates don't apply to March applicant?
If you look at 2015 sheets, those who applied after May 25th had theier status changed to IP in Aug. but, it is not the same to those who applied before May 25th!

Has anyone noticed that?

Does it mean that IP status has a different meaning to those who applied in Jun 2015 than those who applied in Mar 2015 like us?

It might have been because I wrote letters to my MP, the Minister of CIC, the Prime Minister and party opposition leaders asking them to at least update the systems and keep us better informed...so that we are not overwhelming them and the call centre with inquiries ;)

Sign the petition!! and share the link!! https://www.change.org/p/honourable-chris-alexander-minister-of-citizenship-and-immigration-canada-decrease-canadian-family-class-immigrant-application-times-and-improve-processes-and-responsiveness-for-applicants?recruiter=311776485&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive&utm_term=des-lg-no_src-custom_msg&fb_ref=Default

Or write a letter to your MP as well (see thread with sample format)

I applied in March 2015 and mine changed from application received to in process on August 22 2015! I dont think its only happening for applicants who applied after May. Has anyone elses status changed to in process who applied in March 2015?

I sent our application in March 24th 2015 and my Husbands Ecas changed from Application received to In Process August 17th 2015 and the next week they added the 2nd line, that they starting processing my husbands application June 8th 2015.

I'm not a March applicant, but a January applicant and I've had a similar thing happen. Got an email requesting RPRF and more evidence of sponsor living in Canada and sent evidence the same day. Two days later, on August 21, I got "in process" on ecas. A few more days later, I got a second line stating that they started processing my application on April 8, 2015. :p I have never gotten a line about medical being received, but my GCMS notes state that I've passed medical. I was really excited to get IP, but felt pretty crushed when they added the date. Basically, it may not mean anything at all at this point. Ugh. I'm on a tight deadline here. I have two make up high school courses to take at ILC.org by February 1st to apply for the Fall 2016 nursing program, or else I have to wait another year to get in! I need PR to take them unless I want to pay $500/class. I really thought I'd have PR by now. :(

With the threads talking about the possible new meanings for In Process, it's made me a little uncertain. Based on my timeline, should I not be expecting a DM within the next couple of weeks? My ECAS didn't change to IP until August, but the information says that the app has been in process since the beginning of May.

I was kind of hopeful in the same regard, but alas I don't even have IP yet. I wasn't expecting processing to start until probably around October or November given the historic timelines, but to hear people who've applied after us have already been completed while people still from 2014 are still waiting is really disheartening for sure, especially those who've continued to wait.

At least once PR is done the hard part is over.

I know all the cases are definitely different (more or less shown by the arbitrary way the VO's seem to process them) I just wish I could get some clarification on the meaning of IP still. When I got it I assumed it meant, as it had, that the process was only a few weeks from being over to DM. Then some huge string of IP's happened in August and people started speculating it didn't mean the same, so, it's a little confusing.

I wish I knew what it meant too, but I think we've got a week or two before we know. If the people that got IP in August mostly go to DM, then we'll know that it still means something...and if they don't then we'll know too that it doesn't mean much.

The whole process is increasingly frustrating. SA took forever for us because CIC messed up and sent it to Ottawa early (I really think someone just didn't finish off the paperwork properly, but whatever), and I don't even have IP yet. My medicals expire in mid-November and I really don't want to have to spend another $400 to re-do them. I also am concerned I will possibly have a short timeframe to land because of when they expire. I've maybe prematurely given notice at work for mid-October so if does turn into a short notice move, I will have time to actually get everything ready to go, plus I wanted to give my current employer plenty of time to find a replacement (it's not going to be easy for them, so I wanted to give them as much notice as I could). Fortunately they've already offered to have me do pretty much as much consulting as I'd like through the end of the year, but I really want to be with my wife and out of this limbo state.

Mine still says application received, if you look at my submission its the same time as yours is, lucky you, wish I saw movement on mine.

Hi all, I'm a June applicant and I am already in Process. I know for a fact that I'm not really in process according to the original in process meaning because my Visa office hasn't even received my file yet. I have seen this trend throughout the June applicants. I think since May/ June the meaning of In process has changed.

Hey dj heckford,
I think in process now means that they have received your file which is similar to application received. I did send an email to London visa office asking them if they received my file but got no response instead my status changed to in process. From what I know you have to wait 5 to 8 months for the London visa to contact .Dont worry yours will change soon:)if it does do message me !

So I suppose In Process is still true to its original meaning until May 2015 applicants, when it apparently changed to more of an AOR2(?)

Hello anam9094,

Same situation here.. We sent the app in March 30th and eCas status changed to 'In Process" in Aug 27..

Hopefully that actually means the app is in process..

Let's just stay positive.. :)

I hope so too Tinyaries :)I will order notes after two months to make sure that it is actually in process or not ! One of the hardest thing is waiting without knowing any information about our application :(

Was hoping for some good news this Tuesday, but I am only a little over 2 weeks past IP.

I hesitate to say, "Yes, IP is now meaning AOR 2" simply because I'm a May applicant whose application is not IP but who has received case notes that indicate my application is at my secondary VO (Ottawa, who doesn't send out AOR2).

I think it more likely that some workers are putting applications IP for non-traditional reasons (like AOR2), where as some are putting them as IP when DM is eminent. AKA, there are two different camps of CIC workers.

If you're right, however, in that IP is AOR2, I'd say it's more likely the June 2015 applicants than the May. Still, I'm going with, "They don't know what the heck they're doing." :P
