Congrats! You'll get your letter soon! Happy for you!

You need to land because only then you can apply for a social insurance number. You need that number to apply for RAMQ. Applying for RAMQ is done in one visit to their office but you will be on a 3 month waiting period at first, so it's advisable to get a private insurance for those first tree months. Hope this helps.

Already have the sin card. I guess I can't go to ramq with the ecas printout showing decision made and they verify with Cic? Need pregnancy related healthcare.
We were told to go Montreal to show all the documents in person and get the healthcare then and there as opposed to going to the other offices.. True or false?

I saw on your profile that you are in Canada with a working holiday visa and I presume that you're referring to the SIN linked to that visa. When you become a permanent resident you get a new SIN, you will need the new SIN to register for RAMQ. (temporary social insurance numbers start with a 9)

Are you already in Canada at the moment? Because you can activate your PR from within Canada, you don't need to go to the border, just call CIC for an appointment.

So, you're expecting a baby! That's great! I became a father for the first time on March 22 and it's an amazing feeling. Best of luck!

ohhhhhh no. There will be no pictures taken during the birthing process, and my eyes will probably be closed too. lol No one needs to see that.

Hello Friends, have you been watching this exciting and high-scoring World Cup? It is making waiting for our spouses a bit easier. And if you Canadian born folks are not into "soccer", learn it now because it is likely that it is the number sport in the country of our foreign spouses.

I never thought about the new sin charge after PR, but you're right the sin card is only temporary at the moment. Yuo was referring to the sin number associated to the working holiday visa. Already in Canada. I'd initiate an appointment with cic to activate pr, but heard it can take put 90 days to get an appointment. True?
Yup, expecting so healthcare is necessary. Any tips are greatly appreciated and welcome :)

Waiting for the COPR to arrive in te mail. Hopefully that is. Does anyone know if one can just get it if you go to cic office instead? There's an office nearby open to the public. Considering that option of others heard it worked.

They can't say its in processing period because it's way past that time now, I think you need to keep calling back in and let them know it's been way too long.

It’s true. The current delay is 12 weeks before the Montreal CIC office will contact you to make an appointment. So it might take over 3 months before you can activate your PR. The fastest way to activate it is by going to the closest US border and activate it there.
