Depends if you are from visa exempt country then go ahead , rest if not still you have 60 days to submit passport after the request.

Once I submit the passport, how many days does CIC takes to return it back to me?

Thanks for your reply I need to notify them that i left for a vacation and left my job aswell i sent an email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa @ cic. gc .ca however i didn't get the aknowlegment email.. so i am not sure if they got it or not

As long as you sent to the right email id your email has been received for sure.
