A curious thing happened yesterday. My wife got a new visitor record from CIC in the mail that had an expiry date of December 31 2014. It allows her to stay in Canada for an additional 14 months. Yet our ECAS tell us that we have a DM made on October 15, 2013 and a copy of her passport was requested and received on Sept 25th. We had applied for the visitor extension in July as her current visitor record was going to expire today. It made me think it was to cover the time from today to when we get our COPR in the mail but the extra long extension period confuses me. Has anyone heard of a visitor record covering 1year 2 months. Is this normal or should we worry?

My gut feeling is, don't worry...you and I seem to be on pretty similar timelines and the fact that there's a Decision Made should mean the COPR is on its way to your wife. When you applied for the extension to the Visitor Record (I did the same thing), did you specify the length of the period for which to extend it? I had one that was expiring at the end of August and so I specifically requsted 6 extra months (which I got...but I only got it in the mail about two weeks ago :) ).

Still, assuming it's a genuine form, it's their form to do with as they please, and if they choose to allot you an extension to December 2014 that's probably their prerogative. In all likelihood you won't be needing that form ever again anyway :)

I can't remember if she requested specific length. I think probably 6 months because we didn't think they would extend beyond that at a time. I'm hoping the COPR comes soon but I've also read sometimes it can take 3-6 months after the passport request. Or at least some have experienced that!

Thanks for the support!

Got the COPR in the mail today!!!!!!

"Honey, we're going to Niagara Falls tomorrow!"

Hi DuberBlue,

congratulations!! According to your user data you applied inland, please confirm. We chose to apply outland based on the processing times and I'm starting to think that we should have chosen inland... at least I could have worked.

Congratulations again and have a great trip to the Falls!

Hi there friend. DuberBlue is not an Inland applicant. He is with Ottawa VO that serves many outland American

Stick with Outland. Which VO is serving your country?
