March 2013 applied outbound, I was living in Oregon USA at the time. My Canadian wife was\is my sponsor and I also sent off for proof of citizenship for my three kids.
We moved to BC in August so my Son would start school with his new classmates. I received a temporary resident visa at the boarder. My wife secured employment right away (educator), Sometime in September the proof of citizenship information came through. We got our Medical Cards (BC Care) in November. My eldest boy got a job at the same time.
I put in for lots of volunteer time. My Temporary Residency was set to expire on February 10th. I had filled out the five page form and was awaiting a proof read from my wife. Lo and behold the landing papers arrived that afternoon!
There was some misinformation that said I could go to an international airport and do the landing there. The folks there told me that was not the case, so the next day I took the two hour drive to the nearest boarder crossing. Did some shopping in the States and landed!
The process was quick and the boarder folks were very helpful and strove to be clear and concise. The next morning I applied for my SIN card and got the number, extended my BC Care card and got my BC Drivers License.
We imported my car (I had not done so in August, so we carried the insurance from the states).
I have a wait for my PR card to arrive, but that is a mere formality at this point! 8)
