Hello everyone ! I have an issue that I would like help on. My lawyer doesnt answer my questions or guide me. Immigration has asked for our passports. First they said they would accept scanned copies so thats what I sent. Then we got the same letter back. Requesting everything. So now I need to figure out exactly how I need to mail everything out. I am in canada at the moment and would like everything mailed here. From what I understand I do not include a return evelope ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated so I can make sure I mail it out correctly.Thank you !

The visa office should have given you instructions, because the details depend upon which office is asking for the information. If you do not provide them with a return envelope then they mail them back via normal postal mail.

I had to send my physical passport to LA and they sent it back to my company's office in the US via USPS express mail (it was the only option: USPS express in the US or regular mail in the US or Canada.) Ottawa works differently, as does Seattle.

My office is in LA. The instructions say not to provide a return envelope but nothing on how to mail it to them.

They don't care how you mail it to them, just use the address on it. I would however, tell you to get a tracking number somehow!!!! I was paranoid with sending hubby's passport and had it tracked!

Interesting. My letter had clear directions on how to send it to them as well as how to get it back.

All my husband's said (along with the address) was

If your mailing address is in Canada or another country:

•Persons currently residing in Canada or another country with applications in our office must not submit a return mail envelope.

•We are only able to return passport(s) and documents to Canadian addresses by regular mail (US Postal Service First Class Mail).

•Please note that the visa office in Los Angeles will not return your documents using any courier services.

That's just for from Canada though

I went back and looked. Mine said:

You are required to submit your passport(s) and photographs by MAIL within the next sixty (60) days from the date of this letter.

I interpreted the emphasis on "by mail" to exclude courier service, but perhaps that isn't what they meant (e.g., they were trying to distinguish between mail and e-mail, not USPS versus FedEx.)

Well I suppose the quickest way with tracking would be the best bet ? Although no return envelope. Thanks guys. Here's to hoping for no more delays ! *sigh*
