I think they're changing the way they do things and emailing AORs during initial checks. I doubt the May applicants will get approval before April. I think they're finally using the new barcode system.

I agree cadadiangirl78....and it would have been nice to get an aor immediately just to know that the package arrived........and then wait for your approval....like someone else said......no bankruptcy; no welfare and no domestic/assault criminal charges and you are pretty much in...just a matter of the paperwork being processed....but go April & May!!!! And get my file to Havana before all these other ones come flying through :P

This AOR from Sydney... Is that to say they received your file at the VO office? I thought we only got an AOR in the first stage.

Hello all.

My husband and I sent our application in and it was received on March 16th. We have heard nothing yet. We am getting very antsy. We have applied from outside Canada (Thailand) where we have been living together for 5 years.

Now, apparently because I don't live in Canada I cannot call the center? (I tried anyway, but it would not allow the call :) )

The only other option is to fax them? I don't really have proper access to a fax. Would I need a fax number that could receive faxes as well? Or would they then contact by email?

Geez, Louise. I thought this process would not really be stressful until step 2!! That was dead wrong.

I assume the letter could be in the mail, but the Thai post is often unreliable, and things do take a long time to get here.

Losing my marbles. Too early in the game for that!.

Congratulations to everyone who have been succesful thus far. I hope to join your ranks soon.

Hey V,

the process is really stressful, and this new thing where people from outside of Canada can not call, it doesn't help. I'm not sure if it's feasible for you, but one applicant managed to talk to CIC by having somebody from in Canada calling for them, and then adding the person from outside Canada in a conference call... a bit complicated for sure, and I don't know if it's possible for you, but I thought I could always mention that to you.

Good luck,
Sweden

I'm sure you will hear something soon. Have you tried logging onto eCas using your receipt number? sometimes that works. Or as Sweden says, have someone in Canada call for you.

As most of us on this forum know, dealing with CIC is like shaving with a cheesegrater while chewing on aluminum foil. Thats why this forum is so great! Its a place for us all to connect and vent! Good luck

Just tried calling at 8 am sharp.. and "all the lines are busy, we cannot transfer your call".. torture me further why don't you!
