Yeah we payed 4000 peso to have our marriage register in NSO in one month. We pay on March 1st, but my wife told me that this week is holy week and civil office are closed from April 1st till April 5th.

Hopefully its completed quickly for you. Our marriage certificate and Advisory of Marriages was not available to us for about 5mths! We married in Thailand so everything took time to filter over to the Philippine NSO.

However we still sent in our application as we had certified original copy and official translated copy of our Thai registration and certificates. Our Philippine documents were sent in later as they were requested.

We are hopping it will be out by April 6th, then I waiting for my optional form C which for some reason Canada Revenue didn't send out when I made a request 2 weeks they actually apologize and now I got to wait another two weeks for that to come.

Who did you pay that money to? I got our MC via advance endorsement. Didn't pay anything but 140 peso for the certificate and 195 for advisory on marriage. Got both about 2 weeks after our wedding.

Really we had a civil wedding in Las Pinas. They told us that if we wanted our marriage certificate in one month rather than 6 months it would cost us 4000 pesos.

This is a common a occurrence for us foreigners in another country. Your wife could and should have argued that fee. The difference between the actual cost and what you paid was pocketed. Corruption of the system.

Same problems can be found at times in Thailand as well, there are two prices for a lot of things.

Now I feel angry to think that we could of pay so much less and have it done so quickly that actually upset me. I knew the Philippines was corrupt but to take advantage of newly weds that's straight out wrong. Nothing we can do about that we already pay the fee, I'm now waiting for Monday all I know it better be release.

Try not to feel to angry over it. Its just part of life in many Asian countries. Even my wife got taken for a little extra when she had her medical completed. Monday will be a holiday most likely.
