My understanding is that a person has to be either Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to sponsor someone.

yeah i know but it works this way too, that she include me in her sponsorship

My wife is a pinoy, applied for her .pr in addition to my sponsorship, since 2012 until now,i have been interviewed already, medicals made and ecas says received, police certificate sent upon request, what are they waiting for since May 2014,local .mp says our case has a good standing,am thinking must my wife gets her .pr before i get my visa? If yes then why delay

In your case you can not become permanent resident before her....
If she is already in Canada maybe she can become permanent resident
and then you can come....
The waiting is almost over...
just be patient... your case have a very good standing.....

Congratulations ...

I was just looking at the MANILA VO spreadsheet and just by looking at the trend of March PPR reports. It looks to me even though it takes a bit longer to get our SAs (more than 30 days) the time between SA and PPR looks to have dropped by 10-20 days on average. Which I personally think is a good sign since it doesn't increase the overall time of getting our visas. I just wanted to share. Have a great weekend everyone! More good news the coming weeks :).

Hi I got email, from CEM,it's appendix A,I got married in Canada, but I still used and wrote my maiden name in passport,I'm temporary foreign worker here, it says that they noted that I'm residing here in Canada, they will follow up request of passport if visa will be issue.

Hello Everyone..

can anyone suggest what to do with my situation please.
My husband already submitted papers to CIC last month.
All my documents including passport is my maiden name.
My question is that is it okay if I will change my passport name to married name while waiting for CIC to process my PR?

Help Please ..
Thank you ...

Well, I adviced my wife not to change her maiden name to make sure the process goes smoothly. I told her she can choose to take my name AFTER this application process ends and she lives in Canada as Permanent Resident.

But if you want to change your name now, you can send an email to the Manila VO and ask them if changing your name on your passport now will require resubmitting all the application forms. That is legitimate question and they will probably give you an answer within couple of weeks.

I don't know the answer to this, but another site that has a useful forum, and will be able to answer questions like this is http://www.theworldoffilipinas.com

The site sometimes takes a few days for the registration to get approved. Hope this helps.

If he enters the Philippines with Canadian Passport will have all the benefits of a Canadian,
and wont need Emigration Clearance, but will have the restrictions of any visitor...
But if enters Philippines with Philippines Passports will need to meet all the requirements
of any Philippines citizen.

Hello everyone,

I just wondered - at what point does Manila generally request an interview, if there will be one?

Our application was received on February 6, 2014. SA a month later. In late July Manila requested additional docs. We have not sent them yet because it takes more than two months to obtain. On Aug 13 our ecas changed to In Process.

I wonder if we still have to worry about being called up for an interview, or if In Process means they've approved of everything (except the additional doc they're waiting for).

Any thoughts?

Yes I would be happy to know that too. It would remove a burden on my shoulders to know the interview had been waived.

You either digress and use his first one (if you can), or tough it out and wait until his second one is all sorted out.

Is anyone else sponsoring a spouse who has already lived in Canada?

My husband lived in Canada for the past 3 years. Should we send in a Canadian Criminal Record check with his application? The CIC website says Canadian CRC's aren't required.
