Hi everyone, just would like to ask some questions, though still waiting for some replies in the "Taglish" thread.

1. Who will be looking into the PDOS sticker? Is it the Immigration Officer in the Philippines?
2. Does the Airport Officer in Canada would be looking for it when you land?
3. If you have a connecting flight (Bangkok-Manila-Canada), I bet you don't need to pass by the Immigration Officer in Manila, right?

I'm a bit panicky here as I never attended the PDOS seminar as I am not staying in the Philippines. It says "Pre-departure Orientation Seminar" but I already departed years ago... ;D

Heh Mr Peace!!! Congrats on your Visa, was scanning the other threads and saw that you got it finally!!! ;D ;D ;D

Im pretty sure it is Philippine Immigration that is looking for your sticker...Canadian Immigration doesn't care as far as I know...

If all of your travel is issued on one ticket the Canadian portion might be a problem for you...if Philippine Immigration want to see your ticket. I just went through Immigration on Monday but as a Canadian citizen all they wanted to see was my Boarding Pass, Passport, and Terminal Fee Receipt..they have the "Right" to ask to see it..

If you haven't booked your flight yet and thats how you're managing this...book the Canadian bound flight on a separate ticket...I think you can skirt around the issue going to Bangkok or Hong Kong first..but how that impacts any return to the Philippines I'm not sure..

Hi JGM613, thanks!

Actually my flight would be BKK-Vancouver but it has a layover for an hour in Manila. So basically, I pass the Bangkok Immigration and wouldn't pass Philippine Immigration as I need to go directly to the Boarding area for my flight to Vancouver. I think I am safe, right?

I really dont want to say for sure...is it a plane change...you need to find out if you'll pass through Immigration...into and out of Manila..if its a change of aircraft and not a holding area(Transiting Passengers) you might have a problem...Wow...Im not sure..sorry cant be more helpful..

Hello mr.peace. Congrats.
1. Philippine Immigration will be the one requiring CFO sticker.
2. Canadian Immigration does'nt need or care about sticker.
3.this one not sure. Are you flying all with same airline?
Also did you get CFO Sticker when you originally left Philippines for Thailand?

Thanks JGM613 and Step!

Yes, it's a change of plane (only one ticket) but I believe I don't need to pass by the Immigration Officer anymore. My wife had the same flight when she went back to Canada and told me she did not pass by the Immigration Officer anymore and just went straight to the boarding gate. But she's Canadian, who knows! The fare was calculated as Bangkok-Vancouver, not Bangkok-Manila and then Manila-Vancouver.

Originally when I got here in Thailand, I did not get any stickers at all as I was a tourist, but eventually found a job and got a work permit.

This makes me a little bit uneasy as I don't want to be encountering problems throughout my trip. And most importantly because, I think I am the only one EVER, I did not tell my wife that I got the visa already, not even the time my status changed to Decision Made in ECAS. We even talked on the phone. I just wanted to surprise her. I will just show up in the apartment. I hope I could pull this off. ;D

My husband's ECAS status finally changed to "In Process" on the 18th. On the 21st we received an email from Manilla requesting a scan of his passport information page. I really, really hope this means that he will receive his visa soon! ;D

Even when showing up would be a nice surprise remember that you can be interviewed again at the port of entry, and I have seen in the TV series about Canada immigration that they can call by phone the person that you are going to meet, and it wont be would for you if the person doesn't know anything about your arrival, you may end up being the one getting the surprise and getting back to the plane and going back to your destination. Some games are not advisable.
But if you want to risk what you got... go ahead, make your move.....

Basically the sticker is for renew your passport... if you don't have it you may have problems when you want to renew your passport, that's all.... but there is no proble that can not be solved... so, don't worry now, you will find the way to get a new passport when you need one again.
