Hi, not sure if they even sell them there. Best option is to tell the person picking you up in the airport to borrow one for the time being and bring it to the airport. For now a good sweater or hoodie should keep you warm. I don't bring out my winter jacket from storage till mid nov

thanks Pauluz

Try in Greenhills tiangge (bazaar) I see lots selling thermal clothes, bonnets, gloves and fleece type of jackets you just have to go around and be patient in looking :D.

I guess it's best to just buy a few in Manila then just buy few more in Canada and by then you can gauge what you need and don't need.

I also bought some back then but it wasn't adequate. When the temperature sunk to -20 I was frozen. It was useless when wind chills dropped to -30 or so. But it was good during early winter before it got ridiculously cold. I bought it from an okay okay store in cebu

I guess depending where you are in Canada, a thick fleece hoodie might be enough (Vancouver, prob in Toronto) but you need a real winter jacket ie. Down filled parka or Colombia type ski jacket for most parts of the country

Yah tagum is right. If you do find a good one, it wud take soo much space in your luggage. I'd rather have that space for dried fish (buwad na isda in Cebuano) haha

hehehe i can bring that too from Bohol.(Dried Fish). I'll just buy here from Bahrain at least 1 for each family just to be sure (Colombia type)...

Are you from Bohol? My Lola is originally from Dauis and I still have relatives in Carmen and Tubigon. Also went there for our honeymoon. Where in Canada are you planning to settle?

Why is everyone still here?

Anyway. I am having a hard time convincing my wife of the clothes she needs to get to be warm. She wants to buy all the cheap crap from Giant Tiger. We are not rich but she needs to invest in good quality winter gear and that is not cheap. I guess I will have to let -30C convince her I may know a thing or 2 about winter.

Agree with you CanadianJeepGuy ... need to invest on good quality winter gear for you to survive the cold before it bites you! She would definitely understand when the wind and cold from that -30C comes :)

I am just done watching You Tube post about Canadian winter clothing - layering and good jackets. The coldest here in Bahrain is just 5-9 degrees centigrade :)...

@CanadianJeepGuy, pls can you tell us price range of not so high end but good quality jacket there in Canada?

Sorry for budding in.. Here in Ottawa it ranges from $50-60 low end but decent and all the way up to $400-600 for down filled Canadian goose brand parka. Colombia's are approx $80-150.

i would also recommend getting a 3/4 length jacket. (One that covers the butt). It makesa big difference than just a waist length one.

You can look at columbia website for a general idea of what jacket will cost.
