Question for those who emigrated from Philippines;

If my common-law wife and I follow all the instructions from CIC and Manila Embassy and get the PRV for her to come to Canada, are there things she needs to do to satisfy the Philippine government so that they do not stop her from leaving the country? Or is all that taken care of when you follow the steps in the Immigration Guide - Philippines (from the CIC web site).

If there are Philippine conditions to be met, where do we find them?

Edit: Here is one such condition I need more info on. We have a 9 month old child together. I am applying for certificate of Canadian Citizenship and intend to have him travel as a Canadian but the guide says:

"The Philippine government has certain travel requirements for minors traveling abroad. It is
you or your sponsor's responsibility to coordinate with the appropriate government agency to secure
the required travel permit or clearance to facilitate the minor child's travel abroad."

What is that about??

Hi NewDad, it's the CFO seminar that she will have to attend and get the sticker before she can leave the country with her PRV. She can get the certificate before getting her visa, but she needs to present the visa in her passport plus certificate to acquire the sticker. She needs that sticker to leave the country. The all-day seminars are held at offices in Manila and Cebu. Cost is minimal. The sticker can be picked up at either offices or the Manila airport upon departure if it's more convenient.

She should be prepared to answer a lot of questions and provide documents beyond the scope of what you think you might need. They will ask some very personal questions about past relationships etc, and she will have to answer a lot of questions about you, people have recommended that you should know the address of your work and also they have recommended she have a copy of your birth certificate and pictures of the two of you together and they will keep one for their records.

If your relationship is not typically straightforward, such as previous marriages or children with other people, it might be a bit of a rocky time at the seminar, that was our experience anyways!

Hello Everyone,

I am a longtime visitor, first posting. I need some advice on the status of my wife's application, here are the facts:

· 2-10-12 Application Received
· 5-19-12 Request For Additional information – Submitted
· 9-10-12 PXXX BXXXXXXX approved as Sponsor
· 9-18-12 Application received at Manila Embassy
· 3-11-13 Request for additional information including Passport submission
· 3-22-13 Right of Permanent residence(RPRF) fee paid RXXXXXXXXXXX
· 5-15-13 Additional information requested – Proof of genuine relationship – submitted
· 6-27-13 Request for RPRF again
· 6-27-13 Re-submit RPRF receipt RXXXXXXXX again
· 6-28-13 Request for Medical
· 7-17-13 Medical results submitted to Canadian Embassy – Manila

On 8-12-13 we requested that my wife's passport be returned so she could return to live with me in China.

Current status on the CIC website in Application received, in the comments, it is medical received.
I am a Canadian citizen, my wife has an existing work visa for Canada. We do not currently live in Canada. We lived together in Edmonton for a year and then I took a job in China, so we could be guaranteed to live together because of the uncertainty around work visa renewal. Her current work visa is valid for another year. We are currently living together in China. We are going to Canada at Christmas to visit family. My question is, will we need a visitor visa for my wife to visit? What's the probability of her receiving her PRV before December? Can she enter using her valid work visa, even though she doesn't intend to work?

Any advice or opinion will be appreciated, Thanks.

My ecas just changed from "App received" to "decision made" for the sponsorship application process. When I clicked on it it said: "We sent you a letter on August 29, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

On Aug 29 I received an email saying that I was eligible for sponsorship and the app has been forwarded to Manila for processing. They received the app package Aug 2.

Is the "decision made" for the sponsorship part normal? Should I be worried? Should I be expecting something via snail-mail too?
