If you use kayak.com and make the dates flexible +/- 3 days u can look at a week at a time. Usually flights are cheaper (I.e go on sale) 6 weeks to 2 months prior to the date. Just keep looking, I am sure you will find something.

I haven't heard anything about a protest anywhere but I've been out of the loop. I imagine I will be off work into next week as well.
