Was thinking of "vacation" . . . oh well . . .
New immigrants to Canada may be rejected for US visa because of not so strong ties to elsewhere. Just make sure that she has strong ties to you and you in Canada.

You deserve a nice vacation!

I've been lurking around the spreadsheets and it doesn't seem like Manila did a thing all week. Was it a holiday or something?

I think... (or hope) that it's just because us on the forum only represent approx. 11% of family class applications filed through Manila... And they also process trv's, other immigration visas as well as some other countries.

So... I choose to believe there was tons of activity, but we just didn't see it... Haha... (I guess my way to keep a sound mind)

Cheers!

11%.. that's quite a lot! Maybe they were all busy doing 'team building' or something.

I wonder if the 11% calculated from the downloaded cic spreadsheet based on all apps includes all countries that manila is responsible.... Japan being one of them?

I joined this forum just this week. I was born in Canada but moved to the Philippines temporarily to be able to sponsor my partner. Papers mailed off in July 2012, so anyway I took the liberty of adding my info to the May-Oct spreadsheet.

I am the analytical type you needs information and data. This forum and the information links are just what I need!
But for this forum I would never have known about the spreadsheet behind the CIC calculations of processing times.

Regarding the CIC processing time spreadsheet, I notice under the Spouses and Partners section there are either 1909 cases or 2424 people.
Is there a simple explanation for the difference?

The CIC spreadsheet would definitely include applications from all the countries for which the Manila Embassy is responsible.

Simple explanation is people sponsoring their spouse + dependents would be one case, but more than one person.

well.. that adds more volume for processing in manila then. just hoping it won't take too long for all of us desperately waiting.
I get the feeling they have a whole other section of people working on the Japan applications. I don't think they are all mixed together.

I wish I could find the website that actually shows the number of Manila vo staff and their responsibility. I remember seeing it and thinking the staff number was low... I'll try to find the website.

And so the frustration begins.

Before applying for a PR visa for my wife I need to apply for a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship for my son (born out of Canada - Canadian father). This needs to be done with forms submitted to Canadian Embassy in Manila. Most of the information is available through searching but they have a contact email to ask questions specific to that application ( manil-cs @ international.gc.ca )

So I sent a polite request for some answers. Totally ignored. I sent a polite request for receipt of email. Totally ignored. This is why I asked earlier if using a lawyer would eliminate the stress. Phone calls are difficult as I have no landline in Philippines and I am half deaf (cannot understand people talking on cell phones . . ehhh? . . what? . . can you repeat that? ) Personal visits require huge travel expense from the province to Manila.

How do you people deal with that?
Hi NewDad, I was surfing the Manila Embassy website just now and came across an interesting link. Here is the page I was on:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/vac.asp

I found that the Manila Embassy contracts the following agency to assist with visas, especially for those who don't reside in Manila. They have a help line (nearly $1/min) and a toll free line. I also saw an email address. Unfortunately they mostly cater to people looking for every other kind of visa besides spousal. But it's a start and could be helpful!
