mailing presription meds FROM USA to Canada

Hey all - I'll be visiting Canada for more than a three months waiting for my PR. I currently take 2 generic prescription meds using USA private insurance. I am planning to have the medications mailed to Canada by friends from here in the USA.

Is that legal?
Should I just get a USA doctor's prescription to fill in Canada?
Should I just pay a Canadian doc for an exam and to write up a prescript?
There is plenty online about travelling with, but not mailing, meds.

It's illegal to mail prescription meds.

Get a prescription and then fill that prescription in Canada.

This is always seems to be a grey area with different rules for visitors versus residents. Technically i guess the OP might be considered a visitor until PR comes through so maybe in section 6 fig 2 the rules for visitors apply until the moment the OP becomes a PR or resident. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/compli-conform/import-export/gui-0084_biu-uif-eng.php#a7

Still only implies one single course or 90 days over and above the initial 90 day supply can be mailed supported by documentation to show the OP is a bonafide visitor which seems a grey area if between being a visitor and being granted PR. Personally i think may be stretching a point to claim being a visitor when waiting on PR so may not be workable and better to be supplied from within Canada to avoid any unecessary complications with importation.
