Mailing PR card outside Canada

Is there any legal obligation to send PR card through courrier out of country, what if caught?
 
There is no law against mailing PR cards or sending with a courier.
 
i heard that there is law that u cannot send PR Card through mail/courier

LEON a senior member with wide expertise in these matters has already confirmed that there is no law preventing u from sending PR cards by courier.

GMohiuddin if u have heard ( Suna Hai) please do not proceed and apply that law to urself.
 
certain subtle info, which defy logic, has little to do with seniority or age. sometimes, regardless of expertise, u do know this info or u just don't.

for the OP: yes, there is indeed a law enacted for not sending a PR card across the canadian border by post. the phrase says (unquote), if a card is discovered crossing a border by post, it will be destroyed. but the chances are slim and many PR cards make it through the border.

don't ask me where this law is. it's buried somewhere and i can't search it for u. sorry, but a hint is all i can give u now.
 
Thanks guys for the reply, i checked with the Canadian embassy, basically i went myself to them and inquire the same info they told me its not illegal to send the PR card overseas, the only problem could be loosing it in courier.

this cannot be true. in principle, it is illegal to send a PR card overseas by post.

Well my friend it is true, you can send PR cards through the mails/courier/pony express if you wish.
 
I landed Toronto in the first week of June, 2011 as a PR, stayed there with my friend till mid of Juy'11 and came back. I was not able to get the PR card at that time because of CANADA POST strike. Now I got a red letter from the immigration dept saying that there is some problem in the photographs and you need to send them again within 180 days after receiving this letter. I got this letter at my friend's local address there. In that letter It is specifically written that there is no need to visit the office for submission of photographs as this facility is now withdrawn and you have to send these through post only. Now I have the following querries:
1. Can I forward the required photographs from outside canada address!!
2. Have I to confirm them that I am, at present, outside Canada!!
3. Can I give my friends local address for communication as I had given earlier at the time of landing. (Although they have not demanded any address confirmation or proof of my present address)!!
4. My friend is planning to visit me in the month of June'12. Is it possible that he may bring my PR(if issued) alongwith him and handover to me. In that case, is there any need to show, how I got my PR card when I was not residing in CANADA!!
Pl answer my queries one by one..

There is no bar against the method of sending the PR card out of country. The question is, should it reach safe to the addressee.The sender or receiver should be confident of the carrier - I mean post, courier or person. Most people are reluctant to send it by post (mail) because of the uncertainty. Perhaps registered mails are comparatively safe, but for me I prefer Fed Ex, DHL, UPS etc, even though it is more expensive than sending by registered mail or express mail.
 
Just reading some posts on trackitt and this forum I thought I should mention that there have been quite a few people who have had their PR cards delayed due to the pictures not being to specifications.

In such case, it would be beneficial if one were to remain in Canada in case the pictures need to be retaken and/or any enquiries made about the PR card in person. Of course one could always get a travel document to re-enter without PR card to do so, but having worked so hard and waited so long, I'm sure not many would want to risk it.

There have been several forum posts where people have given family/friends addresses to receive PR documents and mail them overseas by courier. It seems pretty routine, although like wilson mentioned there is always the uncertainty of possibly losing the package.
